Need a little help Please

First time outdoors grower. I was trying to find out why my plants don't smell like pot (more like spices). I don't know what strain I have if someone could tell me, and also how much longer till ready they have been budding for 5 weeks now, a little browning.

Oh yeah one of my plants the leaf stems are turning red in color.

oder is a strain specific trait some just dont smell strong as far as flowering goes your gonna need a scope to check trichomes are any pistils turning red /orange?

I dont have a scope and about 30-40 percent of the pistils are turning a little orange.

if you've got 20 bucks you should get a scope from radio shack. the pistils are not a good way to determine when to harvest. they are only a rough guide. plus it's kinda neat to see the thc develop

Bro, there's no way for anyone to tell you what strain a plant is by looking at pictures. It's impossible. There are probably 50+ different strains that look like yours. Green, Indica/Sativa mix. If you got the seeds from a bag you bought, it could be something like "Big Bud" or something like that. Something that a grower would look to get a large harvest from. As far as how much longer they have to go, ganjaman13 and desertrat gave you the best advice you could get. The pistols are NOT a true indicator of where the plant is at. You really need to get a magnified view of the trichomes to really tell. Get yourself a lighted scope and you'll be able to see if they are clear, cloudy or amber in color, and then you can make a decision as to how you like your high to be.

so whats recomended clear/cloudy/or amber? which one should they be to know they are ready for harvest?

It all depends on how you like your high to be. I don't know anyone that harvests when the trichomes are clear. That tells you the plant has a ways to go yet. Usually I'm looking for mostly cloudy with some amber, or half cloudy/half amber, depending on how I want that batch to be. Mostly cloudy will get you a more up kinda high. The more amber, the more couchlock kinda high you'll get.
