lol why exactly would it be dangerous my friend, its simple-a 12g wire is rated for up to 20a no problem 1600w/120v=13.3a not even exceeding 75% of the wire/breakers capacity. is this math wrong im pretty sure i have been doing these kind of calcs for close to ten years now lol, to each his own i agree but the only reason i would want to run a sub panel anywhere would be instant access to 240v power for my ballasts (which he just said his ballasts dont run) so thats out of the question like i said waste of time and money but its cool i buy allot of stupid shit too

For me and you yes... We understand when shit is wrong and how to go about fixing stuff. But we are talking about someone that has no idea what they are doing. If something goes wrong I would rather have a sub panel right infront of me so I can hear it pop. Lets say that this guy plugs his 1000watt ballast into one 12-2 wire and then oooo lets say next season decides he needs a heater and plugs it into that same outlet. Trips his break.... fuck go reset it. day later flips the breaker.... fuck go reset it. Rinse and repeat a few times and then you have a breaker that will not trip when it is needed. Now we have a 12-2 wire that is buried next to 2 other 12-2 wires that is just cooking. Its not throwing the breaker because it isnt a blatant short but it running the whole line at near capacity. Hot hot hot.

In my experience when someone has no idea what they are doing you want to set them up in the SAFEST manner. There is electrical codes for a reason, stay as close to it as you can and it will indeed save your life at some point in time. "Stupid shit" is worth it most of the time in the long run.

infact i do not no electrical ........and yes big shed when i get around to 6k watts i will have better wiring out there but thats not for a few years u know.......i appreciate all ur guys help shed alot of light on the subject i think i might be safer to just spend another 200 to 300 and get it done by a contractor ,,,,,,,,,,for now all i want is enough to run the 1600 watts a 6 and 8 inch fan thats it maybe a 2 bulb flourecent shop light to light rest of shed up to mix nutes etc

All i can say after reading this post is.to hire an electrician... And do it right the first time. Forget about runnin small wire and plan on changing that shit in a few years i can tell you after you experience the first grow your gonna want to run that 6k. Watts the next run... I went from 600 watts to 3000 before the first run was done. Second run..... Well.... All i can say is that i am glad i ran #3 wire and a 100 amp panel

a couple 20 amp circuits run will work for what you got now but you will be ripping it out to add more power befor long so if you can afford it,a 50 amp subpanel is the way to go.
if you are going to get the parts for your buddy to wire, the one thing you need to be aware of is that they make different style breakers and the 50 amp double breaker will need to be the same type as the box it is going in.if you can, bring a breaker(even a single) from your existing box so you can match it up. if not, get the name of the box.
if you decide to go cheap, consider running at least 1 inch pvc conduit so you can pull extra wires when/if you upgrade. the price for 1'' instead of 1/2 inch won't be much compared to digging a new trench.

WHAT I WANT 4 120 volt plugs regular house plugs 2 for the ballast 1 for the fans does and one for small misc ,,,this sound ok what would i need to carry out the plan

an electric cable should be 600mm down 2 feet if it does not have a hard standing cover like tar etc. if you do put it at 18 inches cover it in sand this is a clear indication of a service (water/gas/electric/cab,tv) if someone uncovers sand during a dig.

they get covered in sand and thick ticker tape normally as a clear indication of a cable below.
