need a cheap extraction fan

using a 400w hps, growrooms 3x3x6,
suggestions please (needs to be cheap as poss)

in uk look in screw fix for good deals

If your from uk, go to wicks diy, you can get a cheap extractor fan for arround 7 quid

also seeing as your in uk can you tell me where to get a cheap hps set up (needs to be cheap as poss)

large computer fan, dryer vent tubing... worked for me.

how did u get the fan to operate? Did u wire it into a plug? did u attach it to a 9v battery?

mobile phone chargers do the job

you can take a cell phone charger and just cut the end off that goes into the phone. Then splice it to the wires from the fan. There should be one red wire, and one black wire. Its a 12v ac adapter.

@baz - whats your budget, what are you looking for? a whole kit, hydro or soil etc etc

um... not really sure. I picked it up at a local computer repair store for $7... its the bigger one that cools the hard drive in an ancient pc tower. now days they make them smaller...

well i don't know nothing about hps lighting systems, when you the whole kit do you mean the bulb and the reflector? i can make my own reflector so i prob just need the bulb and the bulb fitting, or is there more involved?
also im using soil

you will need a bulb, fixture, ballast, & reflector... I got a 250w from ebay. it was 150 USD... Its cheaper and easier to just save up and get the pre built setup. Its easy to start a fire with HID lighting. Check out HTG garden supply

cheapest light you'll find is about 70-80 quid for a 400w hps add say 20 for a 600w and another 40-50 for a 1000w

you will need a ballast to run a hps bulb. when i got mine i though that you could just get a mogul base(fixture) and a bulb and plug it in... but you cant, thats where the ballast comes in. HPS bulbs are meant to run of of 240-270 volts which is way more than the wall outlet so it needs a boost to get it running and regulate the current so there are no fires...

I had a hard time figuring out an easy way yo rig one... but its hard and dangerous. thats why i just bought one pre wired and everything.
