a pretty bullshit move- in the opposite direction than what is needed. i'm a firm believer in cop body cams and when you have politicians blocking easy access to body cam footage, you have to ask yourself...why? what is the possible rationale behind such a decisions?

officers as public servants have no privacy. hell, no other employer gives a shit about their employees privacy. i think this needs to be done to protect themselves, and hell if i were a cop i would WANT a bodycam to make sure i didn't get fucked by false claims.
 
There's an ACLU phone app out now too. If you're recording police, as soon you hit stop the video is automatically downloaded/sent to ACLU, in case a cop takes your phone from you or tries to destroy the phone.

i agree, with the $160 seatbelt ticket i just got as a shining example. i found out the fine is $25, with the rest being "FEES" as they only have to pay taxes on the fine part and not the fees. i'd just like to see this ramp up of hostility towards citizens via robocops/military gear and tactics/non-transparency be moving int he opposite direction. my property at priest lake idaho in the middle of the mountains/nowhere is looking better every day.

Direct result of federal and state budget cuts...

The local cops around here even openly say so.

"We'll make up for budget cuts by pulling over cars for marginal moving violations that lead to other things".

So, if an officer with a body camera comes up to you and questions you for some reason all you knuckleheads think your personal name, address and other identification should be viewable by every idiot on the internet??

Are you fucking kidding me??

Seriously, some of you are either mentally ill or incapable of realizing the total removal of any privacy from anyone questioned by the police.

I have no problem with body cameras and I have no problem with some sort of independent review but I am certainly not in favor of streaming them like some demented 'cops' video.

Seattle had a group of programmers working with them to blur out personal info before releasing the videos to the public.

Get out more bro.

Actually it was one guy doing all the work but it was too much for one person. They need a few techs and a concerted effort to make it as transparent and keep the continuity as best as possible. But it is possible.
