I have hella nats in my soil...How do I get rid of them..And why are they there?..I grow in a 3x3x5 box on my patio...With a 400 watt hps system.
IS there any organic Bug killer I can get to spray on my soil...The NATS are very concentated on and in the top of the soil!!!I feel your pain. I am fighting them now.
If you have dirt, cover the pot of your soil with 1 inch or so of sand. Put some of the stick yellow traps around.
I have ebb and flow, and may have to try chemicals in the water to fight mine.
The yellow traps wil help keep the adults under control, while the sand is supposed to help keep the larva from emerging from the soil.
Also, in hydroponics the larva son't seem to like Hydrogen Peroxide. <g>
Where should I get The diatomateous earth from?I used to have those kinda pest a lot.
My remedy, works every time:
1 let soil dry out quite a bit, and add a layer of diatomateous earth to the top of soil. When they come up from the soil, the dia earth cuts the exoskelez and dehydrates them.
Dia earth is safe for plants, and is only about 10 bux for a big ass bag at osh.
I was also reading that BT Caterpillar Killer will also work if spayed onto the soil...I have some Of the BT So i might try it..It kills larva so it is worth a shot...Its also called Mosquito Dunks...Just in a liquid form.I buy mine at OSH. It's actually a filter type crap used for pools. but like i said, very safe for plants. At OSH 10 bux for a huge bage. Wal mart should have it as well, and lowes.
I also use it to kill ants, spiders, almost all my pest probs around here lol[not spidermites, those things are savages]
Google it for information
i use safer end all, and acording to my local guy, the nats come from the soil, especially products like from wal mart. he was right, it was all riddled with eggs.IS there any organic Bug killer I can get to spray on my soil...The NATS are very concentated on and in the top of the soil!!!
