I heard that if you harvest an indica plant a bit earlier ,it will reduce the couchlock effect,of course potency also ,but it will give you more of a sativa-like type of high.Is this true?
myth or truth?

Yes. I've heard that is how europeans prefer their stone. It is also slightly different to harvest an indica a bit later and a sativas earlier/later also. But this all depends on the strain and the percentage/dominance of indica or sativa in a given strain. DJ SHort had an article about this years ago, it was great and kinda actually started the fire under my ass to experiment more and breed as well. I think the article was called "Know your Stone". I dunno you might be able to find it.

The foundation of this is the difference between THC and CBD. THC is degraded into CBD by light, heat, and oxidization. The older THC is the more chance for degradation. The later in flower you harvest the more THC has been converted to CBD. THC is associated with the energetic heady highs. CBD is associated with the couchlock body high. This is certainly not the only factor in the high produced, but that is the reasoning behind the differences in high characteristics and harvest time.

thank you for the reply.so this means that if i harvest a indica (that normally finishes in 8-9 weeks) in the 7 th week ,given the fact thai it normally has say 20 thc and 1.6 cbd ,do i obtain at least say 10 thc and 0.5 cbd?
The difference usually is in ratios of amber to cloudy trichs. The number of weeks something will take is more a rough number. Usually for a more energetic heady high you look for a high ratio of cloudy trichs (80-100%) and low amber (0-20%). I wouldn't bother harvesting with clear trichs. Also as I mentioned there is a genetic component to this as well, so you do not have 100% control over ratios. There are some good books on marijuana chemistry and science which go into more detail on thc degradation.
