Hi everyone, I want to say thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me on this. I am a new grower, first time actually, and would like to bring my plants back to life!

These pictures were taken 8/28/2010:

So, I got these two plants in one container on 8/27/2010, and they were given to a friend of mine as cuttings. The age of the mother is unknown, but they were flourishing under an HPS bulb until it died. at that point, my friend put them outside and they began their decline from there. I would say... it was outside up to 5 days, possibly 7 before they were given to me, and I would like to bring them back! I do not recall seeing him water them during that period.

I just gave it a little bit of water from a cup (just now) and the soil feels a bit dry, there seems to be some green tough growth at the base of the main stalk for each plants, im not sure what it is. they are currently under a 16w CFL (75W equivilant) that is a natural daylight bulb (its kind of bluish in color)

When it was outdoors, it didnt get much light at all, if ANY (the backyard is really shady)

Yes, that is a quartz crystal in the soil. I play music for my plants and talk to them throughout the day :)

Any help appreciated! What should I do?

Well, when you do water, dont just put a little bit in there. Water until about 1/3-1/4 comes out of the bottom of the pot, prolly about 3-4 quarts for that size pot. The roots that use the most water are way down in the bottom, a little bit of water may never reach there. That will also keep your soil "somewhat" conditioned, if some of the dirt in the pot doesn't get wet, its chemistry will be different.

Pick it up about 30 minutes later, thats how heavy it is wet. Leave it alone, pick it up daily, get the feel for its weight. About 2-4 days later, you will pick it up and say, "wow, that is CONSIDERABLY lighter than it was", now its time to water again.

I would say your PH is way off, or, they are dying of thirst. But you haven't mentioned what, if any nutes are being used.

Taking an indoor plant directly outside isn't a good idea, unless shaded like you say. It has to get used to that intensity b4 it can be safely put in direct sunlight.

Your gonna need a several more bulbs like that, if you really plan on growing it. But when you start adding, just add 1-2 @ a time, and this is AFTER you get it back on track, BTW.

Oh yeah, i think it can be saved too. Personally, id top it off, give it a good PH watering and try to adjust feeding. You wont want too much more vertical growth since there are 2 plants in there, which appear to be about 1-1.5" tall??
