MYLAR OR WHITE PAINT.. hELP NEEDED.

As of now i got Mylar up in my small ghetto grow box.. the problem i have is the heat.. it gets way to hot in the box sometimes reaching 95F. My question is should i remove the Mylar and use the flat white paint.. would that bring down the temp a little?.. All advice would be greatly appreciated.. and i will gladly +rep for those who have possitive replies.:leaf:
 
The heat isn't from what you have on your walls, it is from having inadequate ventilation
You need a stronger exhaust fan, not a different reflective material on your walls
What type of lighting are you using and what is your ventilation like?

lets see.. well im running 4x 26 watt cfls.. i have in intake hole in the bottom left of my box and a hole in the top right with a 12v pc fan pulling hot air out.. any suggestions to get some air flowing a little differently.. i know i need a fan inside to oscilate the air around.. thanks for taking the time to help me with my grow.. +rep

you should have your heat removed near the top of your box. the temp of the room your box is in will afect the temp of your box. the mylar is much better reflective surface then the paint.

yeah i got my exhaust in the top and cool air intake in the bottom.. i also have a humidifier to try and boost humidity and cool down the box..
 
I would use both fans as exhaust fans and use the hole that the intake was in as a passive intake
That should lower your temps

as of now i only have one fan.. im gonna go buy a little personal fan after i get of work.. should i put it in the box and point it upwards?

if your humidifer is in your box it could be why your temps are so high. if in your box try moving out side your box.
 
what size is your box? it might be to big to be just using pc fans. maybe you should use your pc fan as the intake and buy an inline fan for exhaust

damn someone mentioned that to me before... but the humidifier is so little and it seems so weak that i honestly dont think it will do much outside the box.. it doesnt get hot and the mist that it puts out is pretty cool.. but anything is worth a shot..
 
buy a cheap bathroom exhaust fan fro Lowes. You can get them under 20 bucks. Simple 2 wire AC to plug (most aren't grounded). They will probably push 50+CFM and cool that box easily.

i will check in to that.. thanks for the good advice.. but how would i wire that to where i could plug it in and not have to wire it to something in the wall or something of that sort..?

Wire it to an extension cord, old computer ac power cord, or buy a pre-made power cord with the wire ends already exposed.
 
hello....

I like flat white on everything in my room even the inside of the hoods, walls tables.etc etc .... flat white has a more even dispersion of light than mylar ...mylar has a slightly higher reflectivity but has hot spots ...like shining sun through a magnifying lens .... flat white on everything... cheap and works great... i have to wear uv sunglasses in my room its so bright..

i dont think any change of reflectivity will help your temp issue... all the above post are correct concerning ventilation .. get a good fan i use 4 vortex fans pulling fresh air into my rooms and i stay around 75ish...and i run several 1000 hps and two 8 bulb t5 sets over babies

a six inch vortex will vent that sucker out ...to the tune of 449 cubic feet of air per minute...

temp issues are a major factor in any grow...

depending on the weather in your area a really good fan will do the trick.. if not get inventive with air conditioning and duct work from homedepot

dont try to save money on cheap fans get a good one your yield will pay for the fan first crop many times over... if security is an issue mount the fans on rubber and use insolation around the ducts to cut down vibration and noise..

good advice.. deff will have to buy some decent fans to get this solved.. but all the info i can get would be more than helpful.. keep em comin.
