I've built a grow room with two home-made 16-cob flowering arrays over 2 4x4 spaces, which consist of frames (like 4x4 tents) which hold up my lights and overhead fans. Also in the room is a 4x4 veg tent and a small table, holding my little clone/seedling tent.
The flowering areas (effectively 8x4) have access on 3 sides, which is very useful to me, as I don't have an automated watering system (I'm flowering scrogs in 8 large pots of soil)
The whole room is heated or cooled, as appropriate, there is a appropriate amount of air interchange with the outside world, and everything seems to work.
I've noticed that the plants in the flowing area love having lights from multiple directions, which the cob arrays provide quite well. My problem is that, because of the open space around the bays -includong both 'long' sides, the plants (well, parts of the plants really) on the edges are not doing as well as those in the middle.
I know, you guys with single 600 or 1,000 watt sodium lights will know what I mean and my problem is certainly not as bad as yours. I'm hoping you can help me out though.
I'm considering building roller-blinds from Mylar film, which I can draw down around my bays when I'm not working on the plants, and raise for access, when I need to water, inspect or generally mess about.
I'm hoping the Mylar will effectively redirect the light that's currently leaving the grow-space. The cobs are effectively spaced in the centre of each square foot and the ones around the edge are only really half-used.
It will cost me about $100 and half a day to do.
Has any one used Mylar in this way, or got any thoughts as to whether it's a doomed idea?
