Mycelium in a syringe

Hey guys,

I have a few spore syringes from Ralph that are just under a year old. One of these (never been used, needle tip is not even on it) has what looks like a small piece of mycelium growing in it. Should I just toss it in fear that it might be mold or can it grow in a syringe like that? It's just a normal spore syringe, I don't know if there are even enough nutrients for mycelium to grow so that's why I fear it being mold. It does kinda look like mycelium though, I noticed it about a week ago and it has not grown at all. They've been kept in a fairly cool area...60 F.

Also, I'd take pictures but I can't find the cord to my camera to connect it to my computer, plus it is an old camera so it probably wouldn't have a high enough resolution to see it.

If I do try it I am going to inject and grow these in a completely different room and glove box and always work with and fan the safer ones first as to not cross contaminate.

Any experiences with this out there? Any thoughts on what to do?

I don't mind having to throw away some jars or a fruiting chamber if it fails.

And yes, I know how cheap syringes are.

spores will clump

or you could be lucky and it could be mycelium in that case your cakes or seeds will grow faster

i just used some spores i found in my closet i had forgot about 6 syringes from 3 1/2 years ago they got clumpy but after a good shake they are growing fine

Oh yeah they definitely clumped together, but a good shake did the job. Got the verm, making jars and injecting on monday. Wish me luck.

It would be like a godsend if those went a week faster then the rest and are ready for Alice in Wonderland. Hoping it stays in theaters for a while.

i got a question i did everything from the mixture to different types of verm and its still not doing anything i have 7 syringes and they clumped up i had them for about a year but the day they was packaged and etc was 9/08 and i also have a reptile incubator that is electronic and has temp guages and etc but nothing has happened i have them at a temp of 80 degrees, so what could be the cause i tried different metjhods from upside down jars to etc. if someone cam p.m me that would be great thanks

thats crazy but what i am trying to do is to get them to colonize or something and then i will worry about the pins later because i wasted $200 on a damn incubator and etc

yes it has to be dark.... but it wont kill it... i only checked on jars like once or twice untill they were ready.... and the light wont make them pin invirto untill they are fully colonised USUALLY^

Nelly. Are you saying you have had the spores for around a year and they say they were made 9/08? They'd be a little over 2 years old then, I think that's pretty old for a syring. Prints can last longer. Also how did you store them? The cooler the better and the darker the better

that would make them almost 2 years old and i kept them in the box that it came in in a dark cool closet my house is usually around 65 degrees so i assume the dark closet would be a little cooler. and i checked today and the jar is covered in mycel. i am so happy and im going to try them fresh, but most of all it colonizing which i been waiting for
