my timers are not working?

help please!!!
my plants are into week 6 of flowering and just noticed that my timer is not working?? it happened last week and i got a new one but i think the light has been on constant now for a few days?? any ideas lads is ther somethign i need to buy extra because of the current and are my plants now too confused to bud any more??

If you are using HID lighting over 150w you need a contactor to handle the power going through the timer, your situation is a prime example, to pay the extra few buck for a contactor.

You may have stressed your plant into thinking its spring/summer (VEG) again, keep the lights switched to 12/12 and you could be lucky they dont turn Hermie.

yup thanks mate thats what i realised and i have got one now so hopefully like you say they willl be ok they have bud on now but if they start to look hermie illl be pulling them :)daz

Heavy duty timers which are rated to handle air conditioners will usually work fine without a relay/contactor. I've been running my 1000W HPS lights on HD mechanical timers for several years now. These are rated to handle 10A @ 240V (2400W).


The two HD timers on either side of the ckt breaker do the switching for my 1000s.

However, use of a contactor is good insurance if you're not sure of the quality of your timer. The timer only has to switch a very small amount of current to operate the contactor.
