I recently purchased a SSV and decided to do a review. I've owned a Volcano for quite a while now and I've already done a very positive review on that, so I'd thought I'd give a comparison review for the SSV. The SSV actually arrives tonight so I am yet to use it, but I was so impressed with the fast shipping I'd thought I go ahead and start. I placed the order for my SSV on Monday, June 23 at 10:30 am. At 11:15 I received confirmation of my order. To me, this is just a small sign of great service. Sure, I know I placed my order, but now I know they received it, and it even lists the details of my order. Black with red knobs and heater, matching the grinder as close as possible. I specified in my order that I wanted to be simple, something I could keep on the coffee table. Whether or not they get close to what I was looking for is still yet to be determined.
A mere 6 hours later, I received an email that my SSV had been shipped.
Now that is service. Ordered Monday morning, and with free shipping my SSV will arrive Wednesday evening (TODAY!!). Granted, the reason my item shipped so fast is because I was having NO CUSTOM WORK done, but still, this is impressive for a company dealing with so many growing pains.
Oh yeah, my total for :
1 SSV
10 extra screens
1 extra whip (you're welcome roomates)
1 red grinder
Free custom hemp bag (included with SSV, sweet)
$279.23
I was told in a forum to use 420Times or mention the name Paul for a discount, but I didn't see where that was applied anywhere.
So that's about it for now. I will post a full review tonight once I have given it a thorough evaluation. I will be doing a thorough comparison to my Volcano as I know a lot of people are comparing these to items. I will say this about the Volcano; It's been a wonderful item and hooked me on vaporization. However, as of recently, its been hitting a little harsh, a little dry, kinda nasty tasting, etc. I tried changing bags and all mouthpieces, screens, etc. Nothing worked. Then I opened it up. It was disgusting. So much dust and debris, all settling in the path of the air that I was breathing in. If you've ever seen a fan on your computer all covered in dust, this is what the entire inside of the machine looked like, except the dust was brown, not gray. I decided then and there that I wanted to physically see the exact path the air was taking, and with the SSV, I can do that. That is one of the main differences in the Volcano and SSV. The SSV, while much simpler, has a glass on glass path from the ceramic heater to the whip. The Volcano draws air from the bottom and that same air passes over all the electronics inside the machine. I am not sure if the dust I saw is causing the taste, but seeing it was more than enough for me to stick the Volcano in the closet. If you've been an owner for some time, you might want to pop it open and check for yourself.
Be back tonight with more, hopefully completely blazed off my SSV.
