My solo cup trick

Whats good RIU...I shared this trick with a few people who i thought could benefit from it...The more i think about it everyone could potentially put it to good use...So heres my method...take a clear solo cup and place your clones/seedlings in it like you normally would with holes for drainage...then place that cup inside a red or blue solo cup also with drainage holes...this way you can lift the clear cup out to look at your root growth and once placed back inside the colored cup you wont have to worry about light hitting your roots...its not a complex trick but it will eliminate 100% of the guess work when it comes to knowing if your plants ready for a bigger home...its also helpful in knowing when your plant is ready for nutes because you will be able to see when your roots are developed enough for nutrient uptake...you want to keep an eye on the color of your roots...if they are white they are healthy...well i hope you guys find this to be helpful....feel free to comment or tell me what you think of this method....as always...happy growing :weed:

Nice post! I start out this way too so I'm sure a lot of ppl do!
I can add to it that I'd suggest carefully cutting the cup in half to removing it from around the roots, rather than squeezing, tipping, or tapping and turning over to get them out.
It's much less stress on the roots! And the one that have grow into the 2nd cup will be just fine!

Thx 4 posting it :joint:

Nice.. I don't see myself doing it anymore.. but there was a time.. and for those that are the curious kind, this is a really nice multiple use idea.

In fact maybe I will use this spring for getting tomato's going as I will be assigning that task to my 12 yr old and it's a very cool way for him to see daily progress.

If I were a science teacher in a school I might be thinking of great ideas for experiments based around access of easy visuals of the rooting environment.

I use that technique to infect my clone's roots with Azos. Once they grow out of the inside cup I pour about a tablespoon of Azos in the outside cup and let the roots dangle in it. You'll need to add some every other day, but in a few days your plants are "fixed". I find this technique works much better than spraying the roots with Azos when you transplant. 2Cups4Life! :-)
