I have my plants growing in my closet right now, its about 1 1/2 feet deep when you open the door, and about 3 1/2 feet wide, I have 100w High Pressure Sodium light on them, cause thats all I could afford.

I know I need to get a small fan to circulate some air, and I have foil on the walls right now, I've been told Mylar works well, just haven't gotten any.

What can I do to make this closet better than it is right now???

Thanks

take the foil off! this is not home economics 101 :D this is pot growing!!!! foil is for baking, my friend....

you NEED adequate ventilation and lighting.....more light the better!!!!

what are your pockets looking like? we cant direct you on upgrading if we dont know your budget bro

loudblunts is right lose the foil. White paint is better than foil. The foil causes hot spots and is a fire hazzard!! A fan blowing in fresh air should do for the first grow but if you have money get some good ventilation. The light will work for now, better than cfl's IMO

Ok I guess I'll get rid of foil, someone told me that it would reflect light and help out a bit...

I can spend money, just tell me what is needed and I'll worry about the cash flows.

My 100w HPS is on chains so I can easily adjust height, I was thinking maybe some cheap stand up lamps with a different kind of bulb, since HPS are expensive as shit...

let me know what ya think

Brite Ideas Hydroponics and...

looks like some cheap setups to upgrade to!!!!!

you should be straight, but if i were you...i'd get more light....upgrade to a bigger wattage light. mh/hps ballast can be found for low low low deals. just got to look around. you can buy mylar, but if the pockets are tight...just paint the walls white...tell the people to add like 35% fungicide in the paint to help. FLAT WHITE!

invest in some fans. odor control, if needed. you need to exhaust the hot air out of the grow area. using a fan to blow around hot air isnt helping anything at all....just blowing around hot air...

I bought a set up that had a 100w hps bulb and it goes in a reflector, But I asked the people I got it from if I could just put a different watt, still hps, bulb in the same set up and was told no.

So what do you think about getting some stand up lamps with other bulbs in them??? That would help out with everything right??

And I plan to get a fan next time I'm out... but whats the easiest way to clear out all of the hot air from the closet, Its somewhat kinda small, so I figured I wouldn't want too big of a fan

And white walls are better than foil?

i guess you could supplement with cfls.....but come flower time, you are going to want more light....

the best way to clear out hot air is to exhaust from the top and exhaust out of the area. You dont want to intake the air that you are exhausting.....

yes, flat white is way better than aluminum foil. if you crease the foil while putting it up....it makes shit even worse

Alright, well the foil is gone, my walls are back to white.

Do you think that the people at the shop that I got the light from were right about not being able to put a higher watt bulb into that set-up or what???

They were right. Each wattage has a different ballest that runs it. If you put a stand type fan in the room blowing out. it will blow the hot air out. I then put a small fan that sits on the floor blowing fresh air in the door. I have some in a closet that is in a little bigger than your closet. I run 2 400 watt hps lights in it.

alright, well right now I only have 5 plants right now all still in party cups, with only one light so you think that would be too much of a breeze for them??? plus they kinda sprouted real tall at first so I don't want to blow them around a bunch...

what'd ya think??

Yes you need a fan on the plants to make them strong and stiff. If they are all droopy than the plant needs some air blowing on them to simulate the natural wind in nature. Just put a fan on them on low and you can adjust how it blows in the room. You don't need them blowing directly on the plants.
