My seedling is burnt...

Hey, This is my first grow so i expected to fuck things up a bit, but not totally kill the plant. I adjusted my lights about 6 hours ago and just went to look at my seedling (8 days old). I definettaly burned the plant :wall: The cotyledon and first two leaves are both about half brown and crispy. The next small set of leaves looks ok ( they are still quite small).

Question:

Does anyone think the plant will survive through this? Anyone else caused light burn on a seedling that young?

Thanks

keep the plants leaves moist untill the new leaves grow bigg enough for the plant to survive and to reduce the leaves from burning or drying out more. just out of curiosity how low did you put the light and what light are you using and do you have a fan in your grow area?

Hey, here is my grow journal for pics of my setup:

I have read that is very important when using cfl to keep them as close to the plant as possible to reduce stretching. I had the lights about 3 inches about the plant. 2 30 watt directly above and 3 other 30 watt in the tub but not directly above. The temps were reading between 20-23 C. I a pc fan as an outtake and passive intake. I do not have a fan on the inside blowing directly at the plant.

Most people say to put your hand the same distance away for 1 minute and if feels comfortable then it won't burn. I did that but I guess the hand tip is bad advice.

The plant need to be watered so I did that and also made sure to put water on the leaves (whats left of them). I will wait a few days to see how it goes I guess.

ok but at the same time watch the water that the leaves hold and see if they are evaporating too fast i spray mine and they desolve about a couple of hours if you water on the leaves are desolving to fast the temp is too hot

Keep going.. as long as the tiny growth in the middle isn't burnt it'll grow.. try using Y splitters for seedling.. keeping them right in the middle of the light helps avoid burn & stretching....... Luck.

to my experience it looks okay enough to survive but germinate a couple of more seeds to be safe
