I have a 36"x20"x62" grow tent in my closet
I have a 600w MH running, with a 6" Inline Can Fan in the closet
I don't have a temp/humidity gague, but when i open the tent, which inflates when the fan and light are on, it is very hot.

i had asked the hydro shop owner for advice and he said 600w was doable, but now im sad because my 4 pure power plant females have either died or have been severely shocked !

one is drooping and leaves pointing up like its dead,
other one was fallen, but it was revived when i watered it
two more are stll standing and the are also pointing up and curling,
this is day 4 , and they are also streaching.

i planted them directly into Fox Farm Ocean Forest.

PLEASE HELP.
SHOULD I TRY TO EXCHANGE THE 600w for 400w or should i ditch the grow????:confused::confused:

plz help !!!!
my babies are dying

i cant help much but u should throw a temp gage in there. u wana keep it between 75-80 75 bein most ideal. although i've heard a lilttle extra heat for vegging isn't bad. stick with the light dont change it.

only thing you can do is suck the heat out with your fan and thats it. unless you can get an ac. What is the temp of the surrounding room. Like is it hot in the room not the closet?

its probably like 75 room/closet temp and with the 600 on its probab like 90-95, i couldn't afford a temp meter yet, but i know the tent gets heated up. I think its head, but leavs curl up like that to try n wick away the heat quick, juust wish i could fix it. ..

If i read correct above you're 600 watter is probbly to big a light for 4day old plants.... put a few cfl's in there to veg for a few weeks then turn that big boy on when they look healthier....

it is the light. but u got it already so stick with it. unless u cant get the temp down. 95 is way too fuckin hot. put your arm right above your plants. if your arm gets uncomfortable, then so will your plants. just raise it if so. can u keep the tent open when the lights are on? that should help a bit.

it wasn't clear to me in your post if you are using an air-cooled reflector attached to your in-line fan. i have one on my 600 watt light and it keeps the light a lot cooler. you can buy just the reflector pretty cheap.

Thanks for the advice ppl.
my seedlings are fairly young so i think it might be that, i will use cflss for a little bit. I might exchange bat wing reflector for the cooler kind, and maybe invest in a nice cooling fan.

Thanks ppl.

you really need a air cooled hood. You have no idea how much of a difference that will make. With a sealed air cooled hood i have had my lights 6in off my vegging plants. Its amazing what you can do with some air flow.

what kind of reflector are you using? i'm growin in a 4x4x7 hut and im using a 1000w hps/mh in a cooltube, i have a 6" fan as well and my temps are at a constant 78F little warm but the plants seem to love it. (growin strawberry cough). whats the temperature of the house ur in? also, i knwo u mentioned u had an exhaust but do u have intake.. intake and exhaust are ideal.. u need both in my opinion. blaze on.

i have a "bat wing reflector, in a 3x2x5'5 area tent. i have a 6" inline can fan, no intake. grow is in closet and so is the fan and ballast. i think the fan re circulated the hot air in the closet when i close it, i can keep the doors open, but its like 80 degrees , dont' have the AC on and it gets hot with the 600w. i guess i can go to the hydro store and get a cooler reflector, will it make a difference?!?!?
does aanyone know of a cheap cold fan/ AC/ cooling system?
where do i put the 2 liter of ice?

Thanks

just got to measure my temps and humidity. temps in the grow tent reach 96 F. I brought a fan to blow at the lamp but not doing any good to bring down temps.
i guess i only have 2 options:
1) AC my small room which the closet is in (but still difficult since the tent is buildingup heat i guess
2) use CFL's until winter time and i can open the windows..

any advice? any cheap AC units out there ?

i've got a similar issue and decided to use a portable air conditioner - you might check out ebay to see how cheap you can get one. personally, i think your temps are too high for the frozen water trick. you might be able to get away with a swamp cooler but it will boost your humidity alot.

i'de get a portable AC unit, but i really don't have the $ for it right now !!!

how many degrees difference do you think the cooltube would make? like 10 degrees you think? i wouldn't get it if were like only 2/3 degrees though

sorry, not sure of the answer for your situation as i am a noobie also. for me, the cooltube probably got me 5 F not 10 F. is your closet hot too? if so, it might help to have an intake and exhaust outside the closet and thru the tent.

the other benefit of the cooltube is that you get the light much closer to the plants (more light, faster growth, bigger buds. it is worth getting just for that reason, imo.
