My Plant is sick... first grow, help please

So this is my first grow and my plant is about a month, maybe a month and a week old from seed at this point. Everything was going fine aside from the fact I had dropped a light on it and it got a little burnt on one of the leaves about a week ago, and then a few days ago I noticed one of the leaves had just a few yellow spots on the scalloped edges but I was sure it was from my lights being too close. I adjusted the lights and moved on. I hadn't noticed anything strange about it until last night when I checked on it and noticed it was particularly droopy.

I figured it was lacking water as the soil was dry and crusty on the surface so I added water until it drained from the bottom and went to bed. I woke up in the morning and checked it again. It looked droopy but no worse for the wear. I added just a little more water as the top felt dry again (it's a small pot, only 8" - I need to upgrade). I just came home from work and while the plant looks no worse, I'm still a bit concerned. I noticed the newest leaves at the next node on the stem that were bright green and growing two days ago have turned yellow and died. I also noticed there is another leaf that is mostly yellow but I assumed that was from the same light damage (my clamp had come loose and the CFL fell into direct contact with the leaf for who knows how many hours while I was away). I have pics that I took just now, as well as pics I took two days ago when she was as healthy as ever:

You will notice that there has been quite a bit of growth in the two day span, then all of a sudden this. Can anyone help me with this problem? Will she be okay?

Is that mirical grow soil? if so i would have to transplant it to better soil , caus that M.G. stuff is poo.lol
Are you giveing it nutes?
Is that an auto or skunk veriety?
The pot is fine no need to change it,for as long as that plant will grown and with lights your useing you'll be fine. first grow is always a learning grow!
It could be getting low on its NPK lose on Nitrogen will cause the yellowing,
Other then yellowing and a bit small she doesnt look to bad..yer on the right road ..:joint:

Hah, YES! It IS MG Potting Soil... I bought it BEFORE I did any research (bad idea :P) and it does contain "enough nutrients for 90 days." I have read here that I should be okay so long as I don't add any additional nutrients but that I should probably move to a bigger pot and add some perlite to the mix.

I haven't been adding any nutrients as I didn't want to risk nutrient burn when combined with the nutrients in the soil. I was also advised in another thread specifically against nutrients for my first grow. I'm trying here but there are so many different opinions on what works best I don't know what direction to go in from here.

As for the strain, I'm honestly not certain. It's a bagseed and most likely an indica dominant strain but I can't be certain, not sure about auto flowering, I was planning on switching to 12/12 in two weeks so I guess I'll find out in a month or so. I don't know if you can tell in the pics but the stem is quite woody at this point.

Do you know what's with the dead leaves at the bottom, the ones that were supposed to be the next node?

True Some MG products are crap, but i use MG POTTING MIX and have no problems, you shouldn't put bs in noobs heads.Lemme guess u a FF user? anyway a good grow can grow in any dirt, hell i've grown in almost 100% clay.

The leaves (first 3 bladed set) are suppose to fall off.Do you have enough circulation? your stem looks kinda skinny and from the looks of it the cfls are too close.
If you are going to use MG soil get MG POTTING MIX (feeds up to 6 months) not the Bs Moisture control or Garden soil.Check out my journals(all MG potting mix) and my latest video https://www.rollitup.org/blogs/blog24136-12-12-bag-seed.html

I have a small fan blowing in the room not directly on the plant but enough to shake the leaves just a but. I am using the MG Potting Mix you speak of. You really think the CFL's are too close? I've got them about 2"-3" from the plant, two above and two on the side. All four bulbs are 23W 5000K bulbs. I also have aluminum foil surrounding the pot and lights to help a bit since I can't paint the walls.

^^dont use tin foil creates hot spots, the weird coloring is in fact from the time released MG soil, its not consistent with the feeding schedule so you get these multi shades of green.. just more nitrogen was being consumed at that particular moment and less when it looks lighter green. Put your hand on the top of the plant if your getting burned by the bulbs then so is she

The lights are not too hot or too close, I'm confident of that. The few burns from the light came from direct contact with the bulb because it fell over while I was away. And if my lights are only effective from 2"-4" because they're CFL's then why would putting aluminum foil much further away create hotspots?

I'm more concerned about droopiness, if it's even droopy. It occurs to me that the limbs could be getting longer which is causing the larger leaves to weigh them down more and cause it to look droopy.

The other concern is the very bottom leaves/node that were growing out of the stem towards the bottom - the leaves were green two days ago (you can see them in only one of the first pics) and now are shriveled and dead as seen in the pics from today.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, everyone.

yeah lights aren't too close and you can use foil but the dull side.I actually have smaller pots than you but waiting on the soil to get crusty works only sometimes since this particular potting mix surface dried rather quick,it's better to lift and see if it's heavy.Over watering caused the droop and the yellowing came from the plants not being able to eat with the soil so wet,i noticed my plants eat when the soil is almost dry with this soil.Did you add any nutes? cause supplementing nutes help alot.I got 2 week old plants bigger than yours and i'm doing 12/12 from seed but then again i give my seedlings(less than a week old) bloom nutes 10-54-10 @1/4 strength.

How often do you water and how much perlite is in that soil? It looks like there is something very wrong man my plants are 1 month and 2 weeks old and are about 10-20 times the size of that how big is that pot you are growing in, and are you sure the temps are alright when you have that tin foil wrapped around your pot?

Pictures are sometimes questionable as to what they actually show. Soil looks like it is heavily watered. A plant that small does not need 4 23w cfl cut back to 2 bulbs and make it stretch a little. Once you get beyond 50 watts per square foot even with fluros you can stunt a new plants' growth.

Heat...... And yes you can have you plants too close to cfl's and from what i have learned....if your grow room/ box/cab is too hot, putting the cfl's 2 " or closer can really burn plants! No heat issue in the room/box the closer you can put your cfl's!
Good luck! Whats the temp inside?

I would never recomend a noob a self ferting soil,m.g. feeds at its own time and can realy screw up a noob grower and make him go nuts..lol.. i would say use just soil .no nutes .I made my own soil for years, but yes ff makes a great soil and i can get a bag of happy frogg cheaper then rebuying all the suplies needed to make my own. plus they add micro biotics and other micro organizams that i never did.happy frogg is good shit. and i would recamend it to a noob or anyone . I even put seedling into it and dont have to even use nutes for first 4 weeks..
