My plant flowered under 24hr light

Anyone herd of this happening?

I started with just one plant, but later added 4 more to the grow.

So the first and biggest plant i grew under 24hr light of a 4 foot fluro and some CFL's in a flood drain system, using dutch master nutes.

I cut like 20 clones off it, and was starving it of nutes (because it was fed from the same res as the clones so i needed no nutes in the res)

is it because of all that stress that it has flowered???

Male by the way:cry:

possibly, however, all males autoflower once they reach a certain point of maturity. to keep them in veg, you have to keep them pruned.

also, stress can cause autoflowering. i had a plant autoflower because it didn't like living in a dixie cup for 7 months....

it happens. it's a cool plant we've chosen to observe. :blsmoke:

Plus don't forget you said you were starving it, if it thinks it is about to die the plants will do what they can to continue on, this helps them not become extinct.

we took a cutting, and made a mom, used the flowering plant for seeds. she was harvested about a month ago.... the new mom is almost ready to start supplying regular cuttings now.

Yeah, thats what i thought might be happening. Its a survival thing, a lot of plants will do the same thing.

i think males tend to do this more often than females. i had a male sex during veg...

i think 24/0 lighting encourages autoflowering as well

Also when you say flowered, are you meaning that it showed it's sex or the male pod opened up and spewed pollen everywhere ?

It is actually normal for a plant to show it's sex while under 24/7 lighting and actually how I receommend people to sex their plants, this way you know the plant is mature and what it is. From all the guides you read they want you to switch to 12/12 and then back again which in my opinion is waste, just wait for the plant to show itself and then put it into flower mode anytime after that. The point is that you don't need to force it to flower to see what sex it is and I think you are wasting more time switching lighting schedules and having the plant change modes. There are exceptions for everyone getting ready to pounce on the keyboard to explain why there reasoning is acceptable and why they did do it the way described over and over again in the guides. I'm here to change that chapter in all the guides and start a new way of thinking.

I didn't let the bastard throw its pollen. cut it down before it had a chance. not that it would have mattered, as there are no other flowering plants in there ATM. but i didn’t want any pollen hanging around for when i do have some flowering females in there.

So when it shows its sex, it's beginning to flower; does it continue to flower from this point forward? or continue to grow until switched to 12/12?

Interestingly the clone of this plant that has flowered male under 24/7, is looking like a female.

Which would confirm my hunch that the plant is a female that turned hermie under stress??? Is that possible???

It's normal growth, that is why I suggest growing until veg until you get the right height at which time you wish to bloom. You really don't save any time by switching to 12/12 and then back to 24/7. if you really must I recommend doing one branch only. When you switch to 12/12 it takes 2 weeks for the plant to show it's sex early and 2 weeks for it to go back to normal VEG, so you are really wasting a month of grow time.

All the 12/12 switching is doing is allowing you to SEX the plant early.

The plant will normally show it's sex within the 4 weeks of normal veg growth anyway.

any other questions ?
