My PC cab (non stealth edition)

What's up guys, I built this PC cab quite a few years ago because I intended to do a mini grow but it ended up being used just for a seedling cab because I got the itch to spend the big bucks on lights and a real grow room :-o It's been a few years since that venture and I just recently pulled this cab out of the dusty attic to start a new grow and wanted to show you guys how I built my cab. Keep in mind this cab was not meant to be stealthy, it's quite obvious that it's not a regular PC cab. But it's efficient and I had a lot of fun making it

I started with this three socket bathroom lamp fixture I purchased at a hardware store for 10 bucks

I hardwired it to an extention cord that I purchased for $8 that came pre spliced for my crimping pleasure

These are some of the products that went into the build,

Duct Tape (black & silver) Black I used to cover light leaks, silver just for extra
6 plug hookup
Atrium Grate, Activated Carbon, Zip Ties, Pantie hose (for the carbon scrub)
120 & 80 MM Computer fans

This is the Carbon Scrub, or as I like to call it.. the stinky sucker
I got the idea from another post, I took an atrium grate that I purchased in the plumbing section at the hardware store $5

I zip tied pantie hose over the hole thing $3

pulled the pantie hose back over the top again and filled with activated carbon $5

I then duct taped it to an 120mm fan for exhaust $5

I went with three 80mm computer fans for intake, $5 (all fans are screwed in, duct tape just for lighting purposes)

I hardwired them to an adustable ac/dc adapter $6

I didnt feel like buying the expensive mylar that comes in 30 foot rolls when all I needed was about 3 foot, so I bought some emergency blankets instead that are made out of mylar. and some aluminum duct tape to put it on with

I cut out a square section on the back side of the pc cab to put the fixture into, Then bolted it in.

I used 3 CFL daylight lights, The end result...

and just for some added art I got a little creative with the side panel

I think this cab turned out well for my first one, It makes for an excellent seedling starting cab (I put mini buckets upside in there to bring the seedlings up close to the bulbs)

Just wanted to post this in case someone needed some inspiration

How do you keep your temps low? My temps get up to 100F in my pc grow unless I keep the side
Panel off. I have a 9v acdc adapter running 2 exhaust fans
And 1 intake. Would a 12v adapter help much more?

Sounds like you might need a few more fans blowing air in,

Also my fans are all pointed directly at the lights, So they're blowing cold air at the bulbs and sucking the hot out the other side. I have 3 fans blowing air into the cab and 1 larger fan sucking air out

The 12v adapter is a nice addition, they push the fans pretty fast compared to 9v. My adapter is adjustable so I can slow them down when it's cooler out
