My Nirvana Ice Journal

Thank you, I am going to let these three get huge. I have 6 clones now and will bloom 3 of them when they have roots. After smoking those three I will decide which to keep. I use a 1000w MH for flowering. I have a 1000w HPS but I need a longer power cable, its 220v. I have an extra 600w digital (hps or mh) I will use for my new flood/drain table. I'm off to pick up a chronic clone now.
Hey buddy. Your ICE grow is coming along very nicely. I've grown this before, and I don't even know if anyone has warned you.. but this particular strain if your not careful.. will absolutely get out of control with growth. My last grow before my current AK48 grow.. was the ICE from Nirvana. I too had the feminized beans.. as that's all I order. I dont like messing with regular seed batches. Anyhow, every single one of my ICE plants became monsters. I'm talking freaking HUGE!!!! I started them in party cups.. for the first two weeks of their lives (the veg cycle).. then I transplanted them into 1.5gallon pots.. and they just took off like no tomorrow. If I remember correctly... my last ICE plant that I harvested.. wound up being right at 5.5 feet tall.. and about 3.5 to 4.0feet wide... now that doesn't sound all that big.. but when your talking about an indoor plant.. sitting in 1.5gallon pots... its a whole different story. LOL.

Anyhow, lastly.. I just wanted to also warn you that this strain needs a good 9 to 11 weeks before they'll be ready for harvesting. I actually let my last ICE plant go a full 13 weeks.. and I was really happy I did. It smoked/tasted/smelled much more stronger/potent than the other one that I only gave 11 weeks to before harvesting.

Anyways, good luck.. and I'm def. going to be watching this grow for sure.

Peace!

^Holy shit, I hope I don't have that problem. If you get a chance, check the link below, and have a look at mine. Any estimates on finished size? I'm hoping they stop at 30" or less. They are on day 8 is 12/12 and just started stretching. How much light were you using? I'm hoping that my larger pots,(confined roots promote stretching) combined with the light intensity, will be enough to keep the stretch to a minimum. Also, I'm being very careful with the nitrogen, at this point, for that exact same reason. Only time will tell, right?lol

^Ooooh, that should be sweet. I'm seriously thinking about saying screw the electric company and moving up to four 1000's, myself.lol I'm running 1800 watts in a 5' x 6' area, and want to upgrade to 4,000 watts. LOL, Okay, that's probably a bit more heat than I could control. Right now, I have three 400's and a 600, and plan to go with four 600's. I'm thinking that'd do better than two 1000's on a light rail. What do you think?

How big is your grow area? It would be awesome to be able to squeeze that other 1000 in there. Can you say "dense buds"?lol :weed:
My total growing area (bloom and grow) is about 500sq ft. I have a extra room that used to be a carport. I was basically using it as storage before as I don't have a garage. I'm only using about 1/5th of what is available. The wiring is very funky as the old man who owned the house before liked to tap into taps. I have to redo any circuit before I use it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Since I started to fert. them they have excellent color and vigorous growth, as if their growth wasn't good enough o_O. I am happy with their size in my pots and I don't see a transplant any time soon. i want them to be big so I can take 12" clones. I will be trying them in a zero veg perpetual on the flood/drain table.

I have been feeding them 3mls/gl of Dyna-Gro grow and they have no signs of burn. I am very happy with their performance so far. I am a little concerned that my aero clones aren't showing roots yet. The other breeds I have show roots in 5-7 days with water only. I started some in soil also just in case.

Thanks for commenting.

^Wow, I can't believe you're having trouble with rooting times, with Ice. Are the temps a little high, or low? Misting them? I have been really impressed by the strain's vigor, and have seen over half of mine taken root, in just a few hours shy of day 7. Water and cloning gel, is all I've used, so far. I'm thinking we need to tweak a little, with your's? :)

Actually, I'm thinking it isn't your method, it sounds like it could be your cuttings. Perhaps, for one reason or another,(borderline overfert, for example) they weren't taken at the optimum time, 'causing the delay? Hmm..... *scratches chin*

I'm not having trouble. The clones look like they did the day i took them they are just starting to form roots later than my other breeds. I wont troubleshoot the problem unless the next set of clones in the aero unit takes the longer time frame. I've never lost a clone yet and I wont start now.

Nah, that's not what I was getting at. After seeing your plants, I'm pretty confident that they're healthy, and will survive. I was just trying to pinpoint the reason for the delay. Maybe our's were from a different batch of seeds? When did you get your's? I ordered mine sometime in mid-August.

How tall were your plants when you started the flowering cycle? I currently have a few Ice plants growing and I really dont have the space to house 5 foot plants! I thought the Ice was supposed to be a medium height plant??

I am confident that the solution lies in the temperature. I have raised my light to accommodate some other taller plants and that lowered temps too far as my pump runs 1min on 5min off. I could compensate by running the pump 24/7 or adding a separate light. I have plans to separate my clones from my growing area. I have since put my aero Ice into dirt and I will be making adjustments before starting new clones int he aero unit. I assume that the lower temp will have adverse effects on my other breeds as well.

I have not placed my Ice into bloom yet. I will bloom the clones and then take clones from the mothers based on the smoke and bloom report. I don't know if they will stretch in bloom.

I will update this weekend. i received a Chronic clone from a cl'r and put it into quarantine as it was riddled with mites. There was so much speckling I could tell right away. I placed it into quarantine and have not brought it in the house yet. It will stay there for up to 8 weeks. Its making a fair recovery. I am using a concoction of additives to bring it back to life. I am also testing the pro-tekt's usability for mite infestations. I love the smell coming from this Chronic. The plant smells exactly like honey. It smells sweeter than any other I have ever grown. I'm sure its a winner!

Thanks for keeping up!

So here's another update.

the clones are doing fine. they took longer than expected but I put them in dirt and started to see roots in a few days. I did take many more to test and they are all doing fine. I think I have about 12 Ice clones now. I will be transplanting the smaller Ice soon and will be placing the other two larger Ice into bloom today. I definitely have two different pheno's. The slowest growing is more indica and the other two are much faster growers with more sativa.

They have all taken to Dyna-Gro formula well. I am using about 3ml/gl each feeding. The larger two are heavy feeders but they grow very fast. I will update with some pics tonight on the start of 12/12.

^Looking great, man. I'm surprised at how much food they take in, compared to my old strains. They are hungry bastards, that's for sure.lol :weed:

Haha, well I have decided to wait a bit before putting any of these beauties into bloom. I got a wild hair today and set up my 600watt digital. I'm runnin the mh bulb and my Ice rocked more than 2" growth today :) I want to let them get a little bigger. I will transplant the smallest tomorrow and I feel confident in placing them into 12/12 sometime this weekend. I also updated my bloom room with my 1000 H.P.S. and have packed up the 1000MH I was Using. Made some adjustments to light height and the girls are loving it.
I need a bigger inline for bloom. The temps. have been a little high @ 85 midday for about 2 hrs. I run them during the day. Clones are looking great. Several of them are out under the 600. I also have a Chronic recovering from mite issues. I may add it to the garden in a month or so? Ive also got a line on some afgooey, I should get that soon. Thanks for keeping up.

Check out how nice the Purple Wreck is coming also.

The 600 has kicked in the ass. I cant wait to see how big they get! Here's some photos from today. enjoy!

I did notice the slightest bit of tip burn so I may pull the grow back a touch? I am happy with the growth and color. Most of the clones have come out under the HID. I had my Strawberry Cough root in 7 days and the fastest rooting of the Ice has been 10 days. Each successive clone of the Ice is getting better. That's rooting them in the big blue cups. So they have a very nice root system when I start to see roots. I will be taking some clones from the Purple Wreck very soon.

Maybe I will start a Purple Wreck journal in bloom? I will be getting a G13 and special Widow variety soon. Both are said to be of the highest quality. After that I am done collecting varieties until I get smoke reports from all of them.

So here they are at their first 12/12 moments. The 600 helped to speed things up considerably. they are as tall as my Cough after the stretch so I am hoping they don't grow too much in bloom.

The rest is a picture of my bloom room with all my ladies. Also had some cutting to do today too.

You may have covered this but are all of these plants being grown with DG or just a few. Regardless, they look great, I'm subbed.

Thanks,

All of my plants are on a schedule of DG.

I did some ppm checking and after adding my bloom schedule its 400ppm. That's early stage bloom. I think the final stage bloom will be more in the 500-600ppm range? Tap is abut 30 ppm. I use 3ml/gl on all plants up to later stage bloom. The 3ml/gl is a varying mix of grow and/or bloom. I dont ph my water. From the tap it is 8.0.

The area where I stood to take the picture is an open door. There is fresh air entering the room at all times. Just above the pic on the back wall is an exhaust fan set to 15min on and 15min off. On average the temp. is 80-85 right below the light. I may add a reducer to the light hood and pull the air out through the light in the future? We have experienced our first freeze outside so from here on out the temps will continue to fall. I will wait and see how this room does during the dead of winter (we get snow here). If it drops too low I will add my 1000w MH to the room also.

You may be referring to the halide grow light? I have three fans constantly blowing on the growing plants. I have clones no more than 12 inches form the light and they dont experience any heat stress. With the fans blowing on the light and plants its just as good as air cooling the hood.

I just switched my hps from 240volt to 120volt. I ordered an eye hotilux and it should be here by weeks end. My HPS bulbs are rather old but I want to see if I notice a difference in bud density.

I got my new 1000w EYE Hortilux bulb. My old bulb was far too old. Since the Ice have went into bloom (5 days) they have become much bigger. I did switch to my 600W Halide just before they went in. They were under CFL's before that.

They have experienced a lot of stretching but as stated before my old bulb was VERY old. I think I may have to use Bushmaster product with this strain? Maybe I'll test it in the future? I will be taking 4 Ice clones and using them in 4 D.W.C. buckets I am building. The buckets have 10" pots so they should get nice and large.

Anyone have experience using Dyna-Gro in D.W.C. systems? If not you will get to see how DG does for D.W.C. I will try supercroping them and getting them very large and bushy. I may try some of that Foliage Pro for grow next time?

Ill update again this weekend. Thanks for checking in.
