My Next Grow – Strawberry Cough? or Blueberry?

Right now I'm still in my first grow with some AK-47 (reputable 'bag')seeds...

Already thinking ahead to my next grow and actually buying some seeds, and wasn't sure which I should get and looking for opinions??

Strawberry Cough:
Ever since I saw 'Children of Men' (before I even considered growing) I wanted to smoke this... not quite sure why. Everything sounds good, and like the idea of the 'anti-anxiety' high. Though not seen mentioned don here much, so wasn't sure why...?

Blueberry:
Hear a lot about it on here, seems popular... good strong THC, good flavour, looks pretty with all that blue

I dunno, maybe I have some hard-on for Dutch Passion LOL

It look like Attitude has the best for SC... $63 for 5 feminized. While Highgrade seeds has Blueberry (unfem) 10 for $55...

What would you get if you were me??

I'd get 2 Blueberry fem seeds and 2 Strawberry Cough fem seeds (Dutch Passion) from Attitude's Pick n Mix, or from the Pick n Mix seedbank. I'd germ one seed each, take 5 clones from each while vegging, keep a mother and have a garden full of both plants for less than the price of a full seed pack for one strain. And you have one fem seed of each for later and a mother to provide you with clones for a long time.

I've got both growing now, did just that. Incredibly beautiful plants, fast growing, healthy. I've read that Dutch Passion sells DJ Short's Blueberry under their brand name, I hope so since DJ is widely acknowledged as the best Blueberry. The clones' growth in aero is amazing - 8 inches from veg to 49" on my tallest Blueberry. Almost spooky.

Why limit yourself when it's so easy to have both.

both are very good strains but having had a lotr of problems over the years with blueberry, very fussy and lotsa mutations i would say for someone relatively new to all this strawb cough would be the safer option. got some waitin to go in the flower room now :)

Thanks both of you!!! I think I may do that pix-n-mix... I thought about that earlier but must of sucked at the math because i was thinking it would be a lot more for the mix...

Great!! It'll be a few weeks before I buy anyway, since I have awhile for this grow...

Do you guys have any good tips or tidbits on either strain??? Are the similar height sizes so light isn't an issue??

The heights are almost identicle double topped in B'Cuzz, the Blueberry is taller in aero by 6"-8". I thought it would be opposite, the SC being more sativa.

I keep extra 5 & 3 gallon buckets and lids around to even out height - I've got plants from 20" to 50" and the canopy is build like a collosium (sp): low and even in the middle (clones in aero), raised and even around the outside to get light to the side and lower branches (mother's in soilless, clones in DWC). I always have different heights, I think I have 3 double topped Northern Skunk that are going to top off at 24" and a single cola Blueberry that's 50" with a few more top cola inches to add on. Easy to fix.

Everything I've read about Blueberry say's LIGHT ON THE NUTES! and who am I to argue with capitalized bold letters.

Good info, I'm interested in growing Strawberry Cough because it's supposed to be good for anxiety. Blueberry is supposed to be good too but I'm a new grower so I'm a little reluctant to take on it's fussiness.

Yeah blueberry has me a bit nervous too... Strawberry Cough is for sure happening, and I think I'll still go with blueberry also... it'll be a minute before I make the order so I have time to reflect :)

Okay, if i do Attitude's Pick-N-Mix... does anybody have a suggestion for a 3rd strain??

Strawberry Cough is for sure happening... Blueberry is likely, wasn't sure if anybody thought there was another? I was hoping for Sour Diesel, but it isn't on the pick-n-mix :-/

How feasible is it to grow 4 strains in a 4 pot DWC?? My next grow may have:
1 (or 2) Strawberry Cough (fem)
1 Blueberry (fem)
1 (or 2) AK-47 (non fem)
1 _________?

The World of seed Afghan Kush is a good strain from PickandMix. Blueberry is exellent but is tough to grow. Does not take heavy nutes or overwatering. Srawberry Cough is good but not very strong. Mellow is a good def. I am partial to the female seeds unlees its a strain that is only available as non female. I want to try the NL#5 and a couple others from Highgrade plus they guarantee delivery!

Dontknowbeans is right about Pick n Mix, huge selection and good reviews in this forum.

"How feasible is it to grow 4 strains in a 4 pot DWC??"

Are you talking about 4 pots connected to the same res, or 4 individual pots?

Individually it'd be relatively easy, with a conneced system you would have to set your nutes for the most sensitive strain - Blueberry - which may retard the yield/potency/other stuff of the other strains.

That being said, I have 3 DP Blueberry and 4 DP Strawberry Cough in the same aero unit; and 1 small clone each of Big Laughing, Northern Lights, AK-47 and an unknown fruity hybrid - growing in a 5 gallon bucket DWC with a 3500 cc aquarium air pump - All are growing great. I use 80% of the General Hydroponics recomended concentration of nutes, no burn on the Blueberry and the Strawberry Cough are growing great. With DWC the roots are sitting in the nutes so you can get away with a lower nute concentration, just change the bucket more often.

"My next grow may have:
1 (or 2) Strawberry Cough (fem)
1 Blueberry (fem)
1 (or 2) AK-47 (non fem)
1 _________?"

Did you pick the final strain? If you can't find Sour Diesel take a look at Barney's Red Diesel. I picked up a fem 5 pack, sounds like a tastey and fun strain.

The DJ shorts version of BB is phenomenal. Never had the cough. I've had some other BB crosses, and while they were great, the original BB by DJ is SOOOO smooth it's surreal. The copies always made me wish for the real deal. The original BB I tryed was so superior in so many ways. DJ knocked that one out of the park. I even love the way it STORED. How could you even breed for that...damn.

Hey eggo,
If you end up going with the uk seed bank as suggested I would go for one of arjan's haze plants. If you decide to try LSTing and manage the height you could get one of the longer flowering hazes and get a real psychedlic high. :eyesmoke: The Kush pretty powerful and easy to grow from what I hear in terms of going way more Indica than your current plants which are about half and half (AK) and 75% Sativa w/ Strawberry.
Maybe either get a strain thats all Sativa or mostly or get one thats all Indica like the Kush to vary the high? Thats the way I've been going about it to really have access to the spectrum of highs.
I'm curious about that uk seedbank and whether they ship to the US or not, didn't find it easy to navigate for information. (sorry, tangent)

Well if you go with the other Pick and Mix site http://www.pickandmixseeds.co.uk/ then you can get those two for better prices and have a broader selection to choose from:

http://www.pickandmixseeds.co.uk/products/dutch-passion-strawberry-cough
http://www.pickandmixseeds.co.uk/products/dutch-passion-blueberry

I haven't used them personally but I know others on this site have and I haven't heard any complaints yet.
They dont ship to the US :( Sucks too... I did want to go with them.

Thanks guys for al the help, I'm about to run out the door but I'll back to reply to all the great advice.

Yeah, it looks like that's just another version of Pick and Mix seeds. The contact address is the same for both. It's a little misleading because the real shipping address is in England so they would have to go through customs to get to Canada.
