Ive been smoking a number of yrs and got some friends that grow some crazy shit and one handed me a bag one day. After the bag was all gone bongsmilie. One seed was in the bottom. So i germinated and planted it. But after it sprouted the stem was dark dark brown and the inside the leaves were lime green, now its about a inch tall and the stem changed to white at the bottom and fades into a deep purple at the top with the leaves in the inside still bright green. this change happened all at once over nite. but the question i got is the plant seems to be pretty tall for not even opened all the way yet. Is this normal?

Some things I can think of:

1. Light stretching - where is the closest light source, and what is it? Your plant may be just trying to find light at this stage.
2. That white part is probably the transition into roots. Perhaps you should add some more soil to cover it up.
3. The colours you are describing are somewhat normal for the very early seedling stage I'd say. Eventually the purple-ish colour peels away into a green.

You'll be fine. Just make sure the plant has a decent light source and water that is relatively ph-ed properly.

i throught it mite be light stretching also so i cut a little off the lip of the cup a few days back.... its in the top of my closet and the lights like 12-18inches away. but i worried if the stem mite grow to long and weaken.

exactly........i'd get some indirect air flow in the area when it gets a lil bigger. have the fan facing the wall so it will bounce back weaker onto the plant helping strengthen the stem and . have fan on lowest possible setting too btw.

What kind of light are you useing? Not trying to use the regular bulb in the closet I hope? You need at least a couple 6500K CFL's, and get 'em within a couple of inches of that little one.:peace:
