I'm a big fan of NL and AI, currently flowering an AI myself. Are you going to be vegging or just going straight to flower after seedling, a couple weeks from now? It seems a bit early to be running the HPS already to me, you might run into a bit of stretch without full spectrum light, the red spectrum boosts stem growth. I'd recommend keeping them under CFL 6500k (full spectrum/"daylight"/cool white) within 3-4 inches of the tops of the plants for the first two weeks, then switch to 12/12 still under CFL, and use HPS when you start seeing pistils. Just my two cents, if this has worked for you or someone you trust, then by all means, do what you're doing. =)

thanks for your 2 cents :)

as for stretch i use a 250w cfl per plant 6400k and get more stretch using them, in pic four on the first post you can see the side of the bulb so pretty close lol. I have grown using cfl's from start to finish and also hps i find this works well for me with minimal input.

I also start my seeds straight in the jiffy no ptowels etc just a very relaxed way to growing :)

I've been in horticulture for over 20 years you name it i've grown it. I think so many peeps get caught up in the technical side of things and get lost along the way. My hope for this journal is to show that you can do it easily with good results. A stripped back live lounge edition lol and using something like NL life just gets even easier.

thankyou for your post, feel free to add as much info here as you want its nice to here

Regards Fragle

Well said, my friend, I agree. For the most part I just let my plants do their thing, with just a little interference from me. After all, nature designed them pretty well to begin with. I just give them room and board, so to speak. I definitely think there are way too many folks that have an "A,B,C" way of growing, when you really think about it, there are probably thousands of individual methods, and millions of variations on those. That's one of the best parts of having this site, in my opinion, to share and exchange info so that we can all be better equiped gardeners.

ok so here we go 8 days old and lights are changing to 18/6 from tomorrow if all were like no.1 then i would go straight into 12/12 but 3 & 4 are still a tad to small for my liking so i'll give them a week on 18/6 to help them develop better roots

Water in tank changed again staying with 1/2 strength canna A&B, drip feeders have been turned off watered by hand using teped fresh water no nutes. this is done every week when you change and clean your tank. I will turn timed drippers back on probally saturday morning

So I went to my local store to get the CFLs Im gonna use...what I found out is quite strange....there's plenty of 23w CFLs with 2700k for a reasonable price (3euro for a Tesco value one ...to 5euro for a philips) ...the thing is I had kinda hard time finding a CFL with 6500k...I asked the personnel why was that and she replied it was cuz theyre too bright and ppl don't like them...(some say it's hard to grow under CFLs..:D.this sure.sounds bright enough for my plants...so I'll be going down there tomorrow to get my warm white for 3euro and my 6500k for like 7.69...:D...I getting stoked...:D

btw..fragle why r u keeping that "gangley" girl...do you think she's gonna make it?...I would just start a new seed...

Hey Mig, the output from the cfl's is only effective at close range very little penatrive light. the "gangley girl" effectionatly named "Dorris" lol may be ugly but she'll be a winner :)
