it was around 20 grams dry first flush, workin on a second now. i was a little worried because i sold some before i tested them and wasnt sure if theyd be weak or sumthing went wrong, but after eating about an eighth last night, im sure my custumors were pleased, as i was quite pleased with my little batch of shrooms,

Glad to hear that, 10g dry for your first fflush isnt too bad. I got a small kit online and got about 6g dry for first flush, think i'll have to move on from the kits though :)

The only one I have looked into is the one on the famous mushy grow videos using brown rice flour cakes, is that similar?

Why is PF tek no good? it comes highly recommended in a lot of forums like shroomery etc

thats fine but if u have already started the pf tek before reading about casings y scrap it if its still giving u mushrooms, so i should just wait to gather all my supplies for a new tek , hmm, no. i plan to go to grain spawn and cased trays, but as i said, the cakes r still producing y scrp it

i made a bulk tray with a brf cake. i just broke up the cake mixed with coir/verm and then put a layer of coir/verm ontop and right now am waiting for the last half of the tray to cover with mycellium

Seems like a great way to get into casing.
yeah it was alot easier than i thought cause i figured i could break some of the coir off so i wouldnt have to use it all. just made a 8x8 tray at first to see how it does. then ill make another one. still gotta wait a couple more days for it to be colonized

i crushed some cakes to coir/verm at a 1:1 ratio and its week 2 with no colonization. Great start for me...

When my jars are ready. I too will be using the coir/verm casing method. After I practice with this. I'll try to add some corn or grains to the mix. I've got two types of jars going. Brf jars and mixed kit jars from the midwest grow kit place. I am really starting to get into this hobby. Maybe even make a little profit when it's done.

don't understand what the method is guys? Are you using BRF and vermiculite and using that as a substrate? If so, it will likely work nicely but... your substrate is not as nutrient filled as it could be - so you might not get the same great yield. Pure grain gives you a high nutrient value - actually the highest you can get unsuplemented - but as I have said, the limiting factor is moisture - grains just can't hold enough water to really get the big flushes you want (well, they can be very substantial). Straw can hold the water but it doesn't have the all out nutes - what it tends to do however, is give you very large fruit. Now, if you suplement your spawn, supliment your substrate at spawn or suplement at casing you can get incredable results. I have found your best suplement is cornmeal or cotton seed meal - 5 to 10 percent - if you do this, be sure you lower your temps as your trays will really heat up for a couple of days.

Cool. Supplement at casing. Cornmeal. Easily available at the grocers.

Looks good. Personally, I'd lose the foil on top of the jars if you've got tyvek filters in place. More airflow is a good thing -- myc needs O2!

PF Tek is also a rather crappy feeding regime. I personally recommend birdseed casings if you're going for cheap and simple. Rye seed's even better; you'll lose fewer jars to contams. However, if you use a karo tek to multiply spores, losing a few jars isn't a big deal; you can make enough karo to innoculate hundreds of jars out of a scanty drop of fluid-suspended spores.

I dunno, if you case colonized grain on top of uncolonized grain and cover with damp coco, trust me, you can get some really sweet yields. %) Casings can easily be watered every few days by misting heavily with a solution of 1ml/L 29% horticultural H2O2.

I don't understand, you are using straight coir to case? that actually isn't, technicaly casing at all. And I am talking about large yields, I've posted pics of third flushes that are heavier than uncased first flushes.
