I have a Sun Leaves two way 400w ballast, with an mh and a hps bulb. I just bought it, brought it home, plugged it in and its not fuckin working. When I was setting it up I plugged it in on accident cause I was high... and it hummed a little like i would expect. After I realized what I had done I unplugged it and flipped the switch to the middle position left being MH right being HPS and middle being nothing. I finished setting up, put in my MH bulb and plugged it in, nothing. So i flipped it back to middle, unplugged it and tried the HPS bulb, nothing. could someone give me a little insight cause I'm getting frustrated, i'm getting some clones tomorrow and i need to be ready. this is really gonna fuck me right now.

Any humming when you plug it in? If not its probably a blown fuse inside the ballast or something.

Take it back and ask them what is up. If you need lights right now for just clones. Get yourself some T5s from hydro store or T8s from anywhere and get the 6500kelvin one keep them 3 to 6 inches away from the plant. Just until you get the 400w figured out. I clone and Veg under T5s and T8s only and switch to 2 400w in flower.

I am not quite sure I understand what you mean by the switching. So you plug the ballast in and then switch it to the blub type? Or are you keeping the switch on HPS when your using the HPS Blub before Plugging? You should already have the switch on the right blub type and the light plugged in before plugging in the ballast to the wall.

I was plugging it in and then switching it to the bulb type. I thought I tried the second option you said but I'm not positive. I just unplugged the ballast and switched it to MH, i'm gonna let it sit for 5 mins (as it says on the ballast) and then give it another try. I'll update as soon as I do.

Also no obvious humming.

I don't see a reset button. I see a random nut and washer in the top middle of the ballast and then theres a little slit toward the middle. My circuit breaker looks fine. I have a regular light in that room and it works. I also have a sump pump plugged into the same outlet and it works fine aswell.

Is it possible I could have fucked something up by switching the bulb setting on the ballast without waiting the full 5 minutes?

The ballast didn't come with a warranty? Sounds like a faulty part. Ballast failures early on aren't uncommon. Just had a 600w switchable go out on me after only having it for 2 weeks.

If the ballast was plugged in when you switched the switch over it is possible you did mess something up. Or if there was no bulb when you plugged the ballast in... probably gonna have to end up sending it back and until then use some CFL's or t5's

I do believe I have a warranty. I just didn't want to have to take it back, that would be inconvenient as hell.. I have to work at 4 in the afternoon tomorrow and I was supposed to have someone come put some clones in my room while I was at work.

I did plug the ballast in without the bulb in, I wasn't really thinking. I didn't realize ballasts were so fragile.
