Ballast Striker perhaps , just a guess as I am not able to open or even distinguish the make and model ... This info will help others being that there are many makes and models with the most difference being between a Digital or a Magnetic , I am taking it as the later with a guess as most have these ..........PotSnob

If you are flowering throw some cfl in there on the flower cycle so they don't get too disrupted.

Hi, one of the way to spot the difference is that the Magnetic ballast is far heavier and also get very hot compare to a newer digital system. also is the price you have paid, a good branded magnetic sell for around £60 but you can double that for a digital.
When you plug your ballast, does it become hot after a while? if that was only the light bulb or the cabling after the ballast it still would get hot. if not and you have changed the fuse in the ballast plug then it might have just died on you mate. hope that you resolve the issue quick, good luck

well you have checked all other options so here goes,

put a metal halide bulb in to your hps ballast and if it ignites it is the ballast ignitor that has given up the ghost.
if it does not light up then the ballast is dead.

hps bulbs have the igniter in the ballast and metal halide bulbs have the ignitor in the bulb.

you can put a metal halide bulb in to an hps ballast as it does not matter if there is an ignitor in the ballast and an iginitor in the bulb meaning 2 ignitors.

you cannot put an hps bulb in to a metal halide ballast as there is no ignitor in a metal halide ballast and no ignitor in the hps bulb so it will not ignite.

hello

right i thinks i may have found the problem- I have recently changed the bulb to a power plant 600w (only 3 days ago) this cost more than my old one (sylvania which was looking dim (had done 2 full grows prev)). After leaving all turned off, not pump or fan- I put my old bulb back in today and it worked for a little while but then died!!!! so back to clueless- the ballast was £50 its heavy, white, i got it from sh'KITBAG' NUNEATON UK in a package deal a year ago- i had the same prob when i first used it but this was sorted by a new bulb- could a ballast just randomly blow bulbs?????????? still stuck and my plants are now trying to survive off of window light (there 3 weeks into flower aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh) not got a clue if the ballast is digital or magnetic, how would i tell???
thanks
