My HPS/MH plants

I initially started this grow 3/17/09 with a few CFL's, then switched to 400 Watt MH when my system came in. Currently, I am vegging extra plants for as long as they aren't too big. Then I will take half the plants and put them in another closet with the same setup (actually it will have a better MH bulb).

The first picture is from 4-6-09. This was 4 days after the MH was setup. The next one was 4-14-09. When I compared the pictures, I was shocked. The big one in the center of the second picture is the same one as the far left one in the second row of the first picture. The tallest one now was barely 6 inches on 4-6, now its 14 inches!

Suffice to say this setup kicked the CFL's butts. When I flower, I will switch over to an agromax HPS (with enhanced blue spectrum). Most of these plants are bagseed, but the smaller ones are all genetics (haze hybrid, jock horror). I started with bagseed because I thought this would be just a small experiment. I also have a cloner coming in, so the bagseed will be the plants I will experiment with.

Any tips? Again, half of these plants will be transported to another closet. I want to start nutrients soon, should I start with a 30-15-15? When should I plan on flowering them? These plants are on average about 2 and a half weeks into veg. Also, I am concerned about roots - several of the bigger ones have roots already visible at the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot. Will this cause root rot?

I appreciate your comments.

Good start man... For veg thats more a space thing.. I like the plant to veg to about 12-15", 0r about 5 weeks depending on growth.. root rot will only happen if they're sitting in water...

If you're going to use that nute start VERY slow... I used to use 20-20-20 and fought burn all the time... I use a 3-1-3 Canna nute now and nute every second watering and don't have a spot... I'd start that nute at 1/4 strenght once a week and see how the plant reacts...
+rep..... Luck.

Oh shoot so if I got one thats 14"" I should veg soon then huh. Could I use nutes bought at wal mart? When I go to flower, should I use 15-30-30? I read that newbs make nutrient mistakes a lot, so I intend to start out at only tiny amounts.

Once I switch to HPS and flower, how long do I let them flower? The closet has a shelf about 6 feet up that makes it hard to raise the light further. However, I will saw a section out if need be (allowing an extra 4 feet).

1 level teaspoon per gallon of water is safe and if you feed after watering you'll never have a problem. I use Wal Mart's 20-20-20 and 15-30-15, for the last four weeks I switch over to Alaska Mor Bloom 0-10-10 so that they loose their chlorophyll by harvest time.

Good luck man, i'll be checking in later to see how they are, more pix?
Sure I'll post more in a few days. HTGsupply advertised "explosive growth" for the MH bulbs... first time in a while I can say an advertisement was an understatement. When I compared the two pics, I was shocked. I thought I must have dated them wrong...

Are all the fertilizers mentioned in the previous post available at wal mart? Two of them were mentioned from wal mart, but is the third one also?

probably not, a good substitute would be Shultz's cactus blend I believe that's 7-20-20 or something like that. It's not critical that you go that extra step others switch to plain water and and molasses as that's rich in potassium which fattens up the buds(tablespoon per gallon) but doesn't produce any more chlorophyll production.
