My heirloom fan finally gave up the ghost

This won't mean anything to anyone I guess, but I have lost my Grandpa's fan. Today it gave up the ghost.
My grandparents immigrated into the US from Italy via Ellis Island. They came in broke before the great depression. That fan, an Air King 32 inch box fan on four legs with wheels was always there in my childhood. The only things I have of him was that fan and a recliner chair with an ugly covering. (Think of the show Frasier with his dad's ugly chair).
I have used that fan for years when the basement flooded, during the summers, and then a main fan in my grow room. I am 42 and that fan was older than me.
Today in my grow room, I noticed it wasn't running. I flipped the dial around and one setting made it move slow. I smacked the side as sometimes it needed that to get going up to speed. It gave up the magic smoke.
At least it did it when I was there. Then I locked my key in the room and had to pick the lock. I have bump keys, but I have not mastered the bump and had to do it old school.
I think Gramp was having a good laugh. They sure don't build things like that anymore.
I may have the motor rebuilt or replaced even though it will cost more than a new Jap made fan. It's Grandpa's fan damn it, and I am not going to put it in the trash.

Yea, weird shit that people cling and hold on to...

I'd say its worth fixing and keeping, besides if it last another 40 years it well paid for the fix lol
