Hey guys, thisis my little setup. its winter where I am now so temperatures are well low, but biggest plant out of the 3 seems to be doing ok. Any helpful tips/comments on how I could improve on this room to make it more efficient/better for my babies?
Cheers guys.

get them 10x more light and bigger pots.
Yea you are right on the lights. I wouldn't recommend putting those seedlings in bigger pots though. I would have started those out in some small 16 oz dixie cups, then transplant to their finale containers after 3 weeks or when they are healthy enough to transplant. Maybe some 3-5 gallons pots.

Oh right, its a littel fluro light my friend gave me, how many more should I have or could I get a completely different light? And also, why should the tin foil not be there, doesnt it reflect the light and make it grow stronger? And why do people recommend you plant them in smaller pot then move them to big ones instead of just planting it in the big pot?
Cheers for the help btw.

Tin foil burns the plants. It creates hot spots on the leaves.

As for a light, get an HPS. Best bang for your buck.

Here is a link to the grow faq: this is the lights section, read up and inform yourself on what will work best for you

Here is a link to a website where you can get an descent HPS

i could spend a while giving you tips on what to do next time but it might take awhile.. so im going to give you some tips to maybe save that grow and get a 1/4 ounce of bud......
1. you need more light... i saw someone mention the 45watt cfls.. they are great for a first grow and produce very little heat. they also can be bought almost anywhere.
2. fill in those pots with soil as much as you can,, you need to strengthen those weak stems up
3. you are going to need to have variable height. right now your light is fixed in a position.. you are going to need more vertical height.
4. it looks like you are being a little generous with the water (drooping leaves) just water it when the first inch or so of soil is dry
5. get the plants closer to the light.. you can see how your plants are stretching to get to that light,, long stems dont make bud,, you want tight nodes so adjust the height as they grow bigger... if you go with a 45watt cfl you can put that light as close as 1"
6. beware of summer, it looks to me like you are in an attic crawlspace,, and those spaces get hott
7. paint the area with a flat white paint
8. when you get the stems strengthened up turn that fan around and blow it directly on the plnats,, it will help to further strengthen the stem and provide a continuous flow of new air (and CO2) for the plant to intake

i live in aus to man.
yea not even bunnings have HPS
but call 'lamp replacements'. theres some in WA but i dunno where you are.

you can get a 150 watt HPS and ballast for $130. and replace the tinfoil with mylar.

i'd also reccomend that on your next grow start in cups, not pots.
(that helps with the building of a stable root system)

anymore questions, i'd be happy to help.

peace

Yea, the tin foil will cause will burn the plants due to hot spots. You want to start them off in a smaller pot so that they develop a nice and healthy root system.
