Heyy Peoples!
So I started growing about 1 week and 4 days ago. Im at my aunt's house out of state so, if any feds try to find me thats where Im at homos.
Im using a trunk I bought for College and dont use as my grow space.SUPER STEALTH right? nott, but it works.
Right now I have it in normal position bc of light complications, and a few too many plants. But its tall when on its side and will hold 4 plants of 3' comfortably.
I have a 4 speed fan that gives them good circulation without overpowering them.
Im using a 75 watt Spectrum grow light, I want to switch to something else, but I have no idea what type of light to get, and where to get it from here in the lovely UNiteD StAteS.
The temp is good, the humidity is good. and my babes look lovely, but Im not sure about the stretching situation, along with the nutrients. I used miracle grow moisture control dirt, and I read that it supplies food for 3 + weeks. So I havent started with the egg shells and cow shit yet.

I need some advice on the stretching, lights (if nothing else this please, like where to buy, and est. prices), and nutrients.

I will be posting pics every wednesday and sunday for any one who wants to give me some consistant comments or advice. =D Thanks homies!

sounds like you need some more light, pics would help. but when plants streach it means they are looking for light. i prefer HPS myself, but your space sounds relitivly small, so you might want to go CFL. like i said, pics will help greatly.:peace:

I am not one to recomment time-released fertilizers but what is done is done. Find a way to extract the used air from the trunk to allow a constant supply of O2 to your plants. As for lights, there are different methods you can choose.

For a stealthy grow I recommend CFLs': They produce less electricity than your standard HID lamp and they produce less heat as well. You can get them in various wattages and spectrum's at your local hardware store, home depot, etc. The stretching is a result of having the lights too far away from the plant. Lower it between 2 and 5 inches from the top and adjust accordingly in correspondence with new growth.

For a budget light system, refer to the DIY thread on how to make a CFL fixture out of some socket to outlet adapters, a power bar, and some y-splitters. I tried to find the thread again but there is way too much info in here. If someone has found it or knows where it is please post it.

Fertilizer is a matter of taste. I prefer to use organic nutrients in my soil and for my plants, but there are numerous fertilizer types out there that are relatively inexpensive. I recommend searching this site for the nutrient type that you want to use, preferably something higher in nitrogen (N) than phosphorous and potash (P and K), like a 2-1-1 or 20-10-10 concentration.

What up people?!!
Ok we are at 2 weeks exactly, and although these little babies are making my life right now, they dont seem big enough, compared to what I see
2-weekers of others look like.
I added a 60 W ecofriendly FL... so that is a total of 135 W in the box.
I also cut out a 3" x 3" square to add some ventilation.
Since the addition (and/or rendition) to the box the temp and humidity levels stay around 82F and 62% humidity, Im no botanist but I think that is good for the plants.
Any advice, or comments are appreciated, just as long as they dont fuck up operation here. Im growing for hobbie and personal use, not to sell to the young of our beautiful nation. So please no smart ass remarks. Thanks!

Just a pic update, they are getting bigger, but not fast enough!!
Transferred the bigger ones bc they were so tall they started falling over and snapping- lost one like that.
The baby one in the promise cup has like some internal disease-- something made it shrivel up at one spot in the stem-- see the pic its crazy; yet its still alive- i think.
One of the larger ones have three small yellow spots on the left leaf, from reading I see that could be from the cheap soil Im using, maybe I should flush? If anyone could give me some insight on how to, Ill appreciate it!

So Now I have the Grow Light 75W, and now 2 CFL's which is 120 W (so 120+70 = 190W), one i made a ghetto reflector with... but i dont think its helping.

I also moved the things around bc I realized the positioning of the fan wasnt really helping with ventilation being it was drawing in used air from the box, so I moved it where it will draw in fresh air from my house through the hole I sawed out.

This Friday Im going to spend $50 on the HPS Fixtures from HMDPT (2 of them) and get these Ginormous 120 W (a piece) CFL's. (thats 4 x 120 = 480 W of CFL's)
Im moving in a few weeks and i will be devoting a closet as a grow room thats why Im buying 2 HPS Fixtures.

Out of curiosity though, Anyone know how long this is going to take to the finish line? a friend told me 3 months, but i dont see how that would work... especially being mine are growing so slow!
Also any advice on nuts., right now im going off the soil it should still have plenty of food in it, but I bought this Worm Poo stuff (pic) I dont know if it will work or not..

One more thing, the dirt I used when I transplanted is really full of these blue time release feeders and has alot of twings and mulch pieces in it, is that a horrible thing or will my babes make out allright? If its bad is it too late to change, or try this flushing thing (please tell me what this is and How to?!? =D)

Thanks for checking out my diary, and all comments and advice are appreciated. Check back for more pics on Sunday!
