I really want to try a scrog. This does, however, look ghetto. But, it should do the trick.

im regretting doing scrog in a way... i dont have the time to train it properly and i ended up stressing the hell outta them.. and needless to say i dont know if i would feel right having my woman traing my babies,, lol... oh well.. i ended up flowering much earlier than i had planned but its turning out to be a good thing.. i only put my screen 6 inches from the top of my pots and i didnt start training early enough.. if you are planning on doing scrog read up about it... i didnt and im paying some hard dues.... oh well,, i got three of four female anyway

yes and the one plant I had an interesting FIM technique. when i cut the top i cut off the vertical growth and one of the leaves on an angle leaving one leaf remaining at the top. this results in 4 main branches with proper LST. i find this is great for scrog because one plant would fill in an area very well and because it is less stressful to the plant than bending the main stem over. next time around (if i do scrog again) i am going to do one plant topped in this fashion

note: this is not to scale... all four of the main branches start no more than 1/4" from the last,, with proper LST you could keep the plant as low as 2" and as wide as a manhole in as little as a month of vegging

my camera sucks but i will see if i can get a pic

yea, just dont use fishing wire or anything like that that could cut into the plant... string is easier that wire to run but i didnt have any string at the time,, hence the word ghetto scrog

Hey Kozz, don't use strings or twisties (bread kind)! You'll face problems with mold if you do a Scrog. You want twisties with a rubber coating to avoid that scenario. I also agree about not using fishing line. The plants will cut themselves from the pressure of growing against them. Anyone interested in Scrog should really read the link below! TRUST ME!!

I wasnt using string or twisties but thank you for the information.

I liked using heavy guage wire for the LSTing but it was a pain in the ass for making the screen. I got it done, and it took a fair amount of time and overall it worked okay, except for the fact I put the screen too close and ended up with hermies galore from massive stressing. I couldnt keep up with the plant. I was trying to train it but it was growing so fast at the beggining, I would come home from work and shit would be all over the place, it was a fucking disaster.

So stress got the best of them so i said fuck it, cut the screen out, and grew the hermies out for some Oil.

It was a fun experience. Maybe next time I won't put the screen so close :wall:
