I usually target putting them into flowering when they reach anywhere from 15 to 18 inches tall. At that height they usually end up being about 3 to 5 feet tall depending on the strain.

Good tip about removing the soil completely and spraying the roots.

I dont know what strain actually. I'm probably sticking with floro light.

How do I keep the plants from getting so tall? They are probably around 12 inches.
Well by the looks of them they are not sativa dominate so hopefully they will only double in size once put into flower. So if they went in now they should finish at about 24 inches tall.If your gonna stick with the floros i would suggest flowering them now or very very soon.If you'd like them to fill out a bit more you can top them. That is what i would do if i was under floros. With weaker lighting you want to keep as many bud sites as you can at an even level, canopy management. You grow a traditional weed plant untopped or untrained under floros your buds get much smaller and fluffier as they get farther away from the light.Look in the organic section under subcools stuff,he has a good thread on canopy management. There is also uncle bens topping thread some where here. How long have you had them in those 5 gl buckets?Another reason to look into the topping.More than likely you have alot more room in those buckets to get some more roots in there.More roots gets you more bud.

Another suggestion is to keep your feedings on the lighter side as the plants won't be hoggin up a shit load of nutes under floros.

They've been in the buckets for about 3 or 4 weeks.

I have a problem leaving the vicinity of my girls once I enter their space.. . I sing & dance for mine. o_O I am sure it promotes more vigorous growth.
Nah, I time the light myself. It's usually 16-24+ hours of light and they "sleep" when I sleep. I talk to them too. I tell them goodnight and shit. hahahahaha

Look into the topping is my advice. It would be the best thing considering your situation. And if you choose to top you kinda should do it now, tomorrow, day after, you get the idea......no mo lazy schmazy.

And with the topping you get to play with cloning.Even thought you don't know what kind of genetics ya got there it is ALWAYS wise to take clones.......as for all you know you may have some bomb ass smoke.

UPDATE:

As you can see they are bigger. I have tried training them but I don't think I did it right so I took the string off. On the second to last picture, my boyfriends plant is suffering from some spotting. The spotting is only on the lower leaves and resulted from spraying insecticides a few weeks back. The plant looks healthy now but its growth is stunted slightly. Third to last is a picture of my babies.

In the second picture you can see we've suffered a break in a branch. I'm leaving it be and hopefully it heals itself.

Aside from the whole ikky boyfriend part. Lovely Plants!

It should heal up, I have a 4ft plant that had a COMPLETE SPLIT down the Center of the stalk 3 inches above soil, you could slip a playing card straight up & down through the stalk, it grew back fine w/ a huge bulge & made great bud.

Great looking plants Morgan Keep it up!

When will you put them in Bloom, seems to be coming up soon.

Dont mind the mess. They're being grown in a closet.

The one lonely plant on the left is getting thrown out. I don't have the space for it. Oh well.

They look good.

But ya need more light getting into your canopy.Even if it is cheap cfl's placed around the middle of them.

I know your not tryin to get all expensive with it buyin all kinds of shit, but if you can bust out another $10-15 for the cfls you will be alot happier come harvest than with out them.

Love the avy.......those your boobs?

Are you still vegging them or are you into flower?
