My First LST, Input and Advice Please ;-) PICS

I decided to try some lst on my largest plant, I think I should have waited for it to get a lil taller. Also think where I bent it over was a lil low but that part of the stem was the most flexable.

Any thoughts on what I've done so far? And what about the other plants? Thinnk I should give 3-4 more days before trying to do anything with them? Most of them are on 3-4th "true" node I think right now.

THANKS!!! :-P

Thanks! I've done two others, one yesterday and one this morning. It's neat how the leaves flatten out, hehe.

BTW figured out what the "first node" is. It's the first pair of leaves that has more than one segment, all mine have 3. So it goes: cotyledon, single segment leaves, first true node.

THANKS!. Soil is just bagged TGA stuff but for what it costs it better be beautiful, hehe.

I'm still a lil confused on the counter tie. Doesn't really seem to do anything other than ruin the new shoots on wherever I tie it to. Started just wrapping it around the base. Also should/can I remove it after a day or two?

in my own opinion looking at the first lst pic you may end up with the stem splitting, the very bottom looks bent too much...although that wont really cause much issues, it may slow growth a lot...
when lsting i find it better to let the first 3 nodes grow upward, and then start bending, this way the bend is covered over the 3 nodes, and the plant knows no different.., i then work the top node around the base of the pot until it meets again...in the meantime you position each branching in its required place, allowing light to reach everything...you can then work on getting extra branching from your new tops, and repeating if the pots big enough

although...... in my own eperience...the time it takes to lst a plant enough to give an appreciated yeild, isnt as fast as it would take to veg in a seperate tent and flower every 2 months! ....still very fun though, and somethin every lover of growing should play with!!

good strains off my head to lst are, royal queen special queen (the plants awesome anyway but lsting gives you biiig nugs) ... ghs lemon skunk (again not really needed but lst makes it easier to manage this ever growing plant) ...cum laude (if you dont lst this plant it will take over your room)

bad strain in my experience... ghs exodus cheese (the plants scrawny anyway, grows spindly long stems that should be great for lst, yet the yeild is terrible compared to leaving it) ...ghs the doctor (keep the plant small and it will yeild well, lst or let it go bigand the buds suffer)

Thanks guys. I've LST'd 5/6 plants now. I'll post updated pics soon.

lospsi, They are "Soft Tie" wire bent into a hook. I think a coat hanger would work better as this stuff isn't very rigid.

Updated Pics... 5/6 photos are tied down now. Leaving the sat dom to grow as it likes, haven't grown a sativa yet and wanna see how it grows. The one in the tent is an auto, not doing any lst on that either.

Hey guys... Ended up just tying down all of em. Was gonna grow the sat dom without it but then I realized how dumb that is to LST all but 1 plant, and a sativa at that, hehe.

They seem to be doing well so far, any input is great! Thanks!

Hey all, thanks for the inputs so far!

I have been stupid crazy with work. For like 2-3 weeks I've barely had time to water the plants, let alone train them or take pics and post.

I've been under 12/12 for about 1.5 weeks now, some of them are looking awesome, a couple have been struggling a bit.

I've got lots of pics incoming, yesterday I trained them some more and pruned out some damaged leaves/branches/tops on a couple and a few very large "in the way" fan leaves on most of them. You can see the cuts in some of the pics.

Blue Caddy 1.

The two Blue Caddy plants are from two bag-seeds I got from a Dispensary in Denver. Its was really odd as the seeds were just poking out of perfectly trimmed buds, I posted about it at the time if your interested: https://www.rollitup.org/colorado-patients/777139-first-ever-bag-seed-co.html

I'm REALLY hoping number 1 here is not male, as out of all the plants I have, it has grown super fast and is amazingly healthy and loves the training...

PS> Riverrock finally updated their info on this strain...

An in house cross of Azure Haze and Cataract Kush. A very potent hybrid with a brilliant fresh and fruity flavor.

Blue Caddy 2

See prev post for updated info on the strain.

This one has seen some cold and heat damage, nothing sever but it sure isn't growing like the beauty from the same bag ;-)

This is the sativa dom, didn't stretch out that much before switching to 12/12 but it has a bunch over the last week, as expected I suppose.

It's really loving the training, but think I need to thin it out a bit more.
