My first growing experience finally, suggestions welcome, please!

Hello everyone! I just discovered this site last week, and am greatly impressed with the amount of information available. I work as a custom sheetmetal fabricator, at an Ac place, which is sort of a plus in this situation!!

Anyways, after so many years, I am finally tired of buying crap, and am growing my first garden. The pics that I have attached are my babies, that have been in the nursery now for only 1 week long. I reallt would like everything to turn out the best that it possibly can, so any suggestions would be helpful, and I'll also keep this updated from week to week, to watch my progress. How do they look so far?

So yeah, they've been growing for a week, I have decent cfl lighting at the moment, plan to buy a HPS and MH possibly only 100 to 150W, I don't "think" I need anything bigger for what I have, grow room is approx. 2'x2'x5'. I have great air flow, plants are getting tougher daily. Any thoughts?

Hey its great that you decided to grow your own.

Three months ago I came to the same conclusion. I was so tired of calling the guy I dealt with. And for the last couple of weeks he kinda acted like I was bothering him.

Its been three months since I smoked, but after seeing how my babies are prospering. It is worth the wait.

My only suggestion is not to plant more than one plant in those pots or cups you are using.

The roots will compete for space.

Also good you will be upgrading to HPS MH

I started with a small cabinet and cfls, but it just got to be too much to maintain

I got a larger cabinet and 400 watt HID now my plants are really growing.

lol~ yeah, I understand the feeling you get when you get the feeling that your bothering someone. Its funny, they dell it, but sometimes only wanna sell it when they want.....I ended up with like mostly shake and seeds past few buys, and thats just not great customer care.

Yeah, thats a nice setup Keico, and sure is inspiring. What is the difference in your power bills each month when you started using your 400watter?


Ok so anyways, I guess I will transplant the little ones in their own pot. Thinking about this transplant kinda feels stressful, because I don't want to damage, or stress the plants themselves.

Actually my first bill was less than the last by 20 some bucks

But a 400 watt might add 25 molars to your bill or less

Yea and the crazy thing was this week he has been blowin up my phone wondering why I don't call anymore

I just said hey man I'm just broke, you know there is a recession going on now.

But listen be careful when you transplant at such a young age

I did the same on my first grow, and they after they were transplanted they collapsed, but they did recover.

My advice would be to get the MH, HPS setup and get that going, and everything should be great.

New pics, bad pics, nothing exciting, pretty sad I think, but still having a good time.

I should be getting my hps this week, I hope.

Ditched a couple, not enough supplies, may have got to excited in beginning, I feel like a retard, ~lol~ oh well least i'm learning something new!!!

This guy is doing pretty good, probly wishes he had the light of a hps, but he knows beggers can't be choosers.

Does it bug some people that, some people like me actually attempt to grow, without a hps or mh, ect...lol....just a random thought....

We all get excited in the beginning, and will make mistakes, but that is how we learn.

It takes time to figure out a system that works for you. But once you do, your plants will love you.

Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium, are proven methods of growing. I believe that is why so many people suggest to start with them.

Fluorescent do work, but require more work, because of the proximity to the plants that have to be maintained.

I tried it myself and just found it to be too much.

On this board there are so many people with so many different methods of growing.

I say take it all in, and learn as much as you can. Take a little from each experienced grower, and develop your own system

It will work out, just give it time
