My First Grow!!

after looking at what you did this sounds like a waaaaay better idea than some styrofoam box!! How much would you say all this cost you?? I'm on a budget of about 250, think I can make a tent with that amount?

I made my tent for like 20 bucks, its just made out of pvc and panda film. and i got my light off ebay for like $150 shipped, but htgsupply has some good deals too, not to sure about shipping with them tho. and everything else is just shit i have around the house, fans and such. the only other thing i pay for is water, I bought a 5 gal water cooler tank for like $15 at home depot, and it cost $1.50 to refill at publix....You could def have a great setup with $250. build a good tent and get a good light and spend the rest of your budget on soil and nutes. i wasted so much money on cheep hoping it would work, but in hind sight i should have just done this in the beginning

Aight its almost 3am, i've been in my grow room since i got off at 5, i ran by the Depot and picked up some add on for about $5 literally and lets just say i re-worked the whole thing once more!! I went from 2dx3wx4h to 4dx4wx5h, But im tired so ill post some pics tom!!

Aight so Its been another long day, i got a few pics of the rebuild and the plants ,
sadly i lost one in the process, but i replaced it with a seedling i had. im def gonna have more pics tom, i LSTed 4 cause they were gettin kinda tall. so i'll get some pics of that!! Hey, don't wait too long with CFLs! They're hardly crap and with the amount + wattage you had in the first topic you definitely could have grown something amazing.
But the downside to CFLs is the energy needed compared to a lower watt HID light.
Its more time consuming to constantly keep the plant inches away from CFLs.
Also, once the leaf sets start alternating then you can flower. So keep that in mind, I also HIGHLY recommend tie'ing your plants down to the rim of the pot itself. It's alot easier to LST them that way IMO.
Your setup looks great though, I think I will mimic something like that after this grow.

Yea i think if i would have done a lil more research about CFLs i could have done better. I believe i had to big of a space, i started in the attic and i had no reflector and it was just some newb b/s. I got that big 400w hps, So no worries on the light now!
I just started a dwc in a steralite tote, i have it in a wedding dress box from the cleaners, its prefect. i have it on its side and its like 2x2x3' deep. i put white poster board on the inside, with an intake and exhaust port, i am pretty proud of it, ill get ya some pics later when i can find the camera. I did however take your advise and i tied the plants down on sat and man they really bushed out, i got a few pics of that for ya now

Aight so first we'll start with the small DWC hydro i got goin on, its just 2 of 6 seedlings i had that i sprouted on Wed. I have 2 12in. air stones in the res. right now the res is about 1 gal. this is just until i can put then under the hps. then i have an 18 gal. res. for them to grow nice and strong. Still got some holes to cut with that one lol Anyways. Im runnin 2/3 the recommended dose of GH flora G/M/B. everything is lookin good i think?
Oh yea, lights are on 24/0 i have 10 total Cfls in the box right now. 2 42w 2700k & 8 27w 5000k, I leave it open during the day to help keep it cool, There is an intake at the bottom and in the top corner there is a fan pullin air out, im lookin to get a fan to boost the intake and maybe use this as a clone chamber or seed starter....

So the big girls
(hopfully) are lookin good except one that i lost...i filled my yeast mixture up to much and it overflowed into the plant and was dead the next day... the other 5 look great, I have LSTed all 5 so they will stay low and get bushy! The stems are getting thick, and the leaves are gettin big. when i trans planted them into the FF ocean forest. i put so happy frog jump start in with them. i was wonderin if it may be too soon to start givin them nutes. They have not had any since the transplant. i didnt wanna burn them since the ff is so strong. any ideas i was thinkin of givin them some next water?

one of them is already topped and i tried to fim 3 others, i missed on 2 and i think i got one. I have mostly just been workin on the LST. it seems to be goin good. However the one i topped about 2 weeks ago i have been LSTin and there are like 5 spots where new growth is comin out. its crazy!!

Low Stress Training. you tie the plant down around the edge of the pot and all the undergrowth starts to grow to the light, you get more bud sites like that.

if you only have 3 feet of room i would top your plant and i would also start your 12 and 12 after week 3, thats what i do and i get some sweet buds

I have like 5' of height. The walls are 4' tall and the light is mounted around 18" above that with EZ yoyo's...
