My First Grow Room setup

My dimensions are Left Wall 7'10" H , Right Wall is 5'7" .Floor is about 2 and half feet. I am going to add 1/4 in. insulation to control temps. I still need to get a light and and Intake and Exhaust fan with a Carbon Filter. I am also going to do a DWC grow. I installed 3 outlets which I will hook up surge protectors. What type of light would I need for 4 plants and can I exhaust into my attic without causing damage to the wood from moisture or can I exhaust and Intake from the same room .For lighting I was thinking of doing a hybrid of 250 MH/HPS, CFLs, and a couple of small LED panels. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also for DWC do I need to start with a top drip when the plants are just starting out in the hydroton?

If you use a seperate fan for the carbon filter, you could get by with a 4"fan with a 4x14 filter just scrubbing. Easily run a 400watt cooltube or even a 600watt if you set it up right.

I have a 600 watt in a 4'x4'x7'space and you can touch the surface of the cooltube with your hand and it is cool to the touch( 140 cfm axial fan setting in the attic). If you want to do the filter and the light with one fan, you are going to have to step up the fan size to move enough air throught the filter and the light to cool it properly. You do not need a filter in veg, so you would be wasting the filters usable life on nothing unless you are running a perpetual setup.

I finally got the room insulated and now have to get my reflective Mylar. I decided I'm just going to run a 300 watt Led with my RDWC hydroponic grow (2 plants + resevior). I am also going to do a dirt plant... just to see the difference. I almost have all my supplies. I say in about 2 weeks I'm going to start the little seedlings. I have 2 Strawberry Cough (Dutch Passion) and Northern Lights. I getting excited. This is my first grow and can't wait to start it. I am going to run my 4" exhaust fan with a Carbon filter once for 15 min every 3 hours (rated 200 CFMS) at the end of veg and the start of flowering. Thanks for the info Asmallvoice. I appreciate any advice. I still have to figure out how to make the door and insulate that.

Generally HPS is the best light you can choose. I have no personal experience with LEDs but they seem to be getting better. If you were to go with HPS then I would board up those walls and not leave the insulation exposed.

I'm starting to put up my mylar and made a door. I have to add my intake and put up my exhaust with a carbon filter. I am going to try a nice LED ligth I got from E-Shine. It is crazy bright and I hope it is strong enough. I will keep updating and I hope to start the germination and have my room complete in a day or two. This is my first grow op. Does anyone know what the best way to germinate seeds. Should I just put them in a glass of distilled water overnight in a dark warm place?.. or can I just drop them into the starter rockwool cubes that have been ph'd and soaked in distilled water + root starter. I have a humidty dome with a tray and a heating pad.
