My first Grow op

Hey guys n gals,
I'm now shopping and compling what I want to do for this grow.
Since this is my first, I'm going the cheapest route I can without compromising for quality. Call it the caddy of the low end

The planned setup:

2 x 16 gallon tubs in a bubble setup
6 x 3.75" netpots per bubblebox
400w MH and HPS for veg/grow (This should work)
72x72x72 grow tent (Something like this)
CFLs for side-lighting
STG Hydro medium (http://www.suretogrow.com) my friend swears by this stuff

I welcome all help/suggestions/comments.
Pls respect the general idea, I don't want this to become a my way is better discussion

I'm either going to put the 400w hung up with reflector and CFLs mounted low for side lighting and to get into areas the light above won't get to
or
Do a suedo vertical grow, hang the light center of the grow and place each tub on either side with CFLs lighting for left and right.

Plants will be rotated so they are "evenly" given light

Things i have not yet figured out.
What Nutes to buy for my bubbleboxes (thats what i've dubbed them)
what type of ventilation I want to use
Strain ... yeah ... a biggie I know.
For the ease of things, I'm going to use clones from my local co-op. I don't want to mess with gender and such, as this is my first and I don't want to end up with dirty seedy plants, although i'm not expecting a stellar outcome either . I'm a dreamer, but a realist all at the same time

I know this is probably pre-mature to post, but this is a way for my to Journal my every step.

P.S.: This is a fully legal medical grow in California for personal consumption and sharing with other medical users.
I don't intend to make money from this and as time goes on, I want to add a second tent for veg so I can create a fairly perpetual grow and always have quality medication on hand

seems like it should work just fine. im only using 5 plants per 14gal res in dwc. if you want good cheap nutes, i started with dynagrow($9), then added monster bloom ($11), worked just fine just had to figure out how much they wanted, each strain is different. dunno on ventilation. i use fans and an open door. your strain would depend on what your needs are for your medical condition. i just play around with them. if i was in your shoes though, id try different ones at dispensaries and choose one you like. i buy female seeds and have a stress free grow, never any males.

What are you feeling on LED pannels, LED spotlight bulbs and such. I will want to use a 400watt main light, but for extra side/under lighting should i go CFL or LED

I've attached a picture of my friends plant in his back yard. This guy, seriously did absolutely NOTHING to the plant, nothing, no special lighting, no nutes, nothing, planted a clone in a pot and that was it. It grew fairly normally over a 8-11 week period, and we started to wonder when it might budd up. I told him likely when the days get shorter, he'll see a result. Litterally in 2 weeks, it went from having little sign of budd sites to havin a whole lot of budds everywhere. I do have a concern tho. If you look, i took some pictures... do these look like pollen pods to you guys? They are generally at the forks of branches and they are usually below and curving down...
Could it have gone hermaphadite? It was a clone from a supposed female (but i can't confirm it since i don't know it's source) also most of the pistils have turned brown, but they look... immature... it can't go from fresh into flowering to harvest in 2 weeks in natural conditions can it?
If it does turn out to be a hermy, should he harvest now even if it's an immature harvest (i felt/inspected a couple of the budds and i didn't feel any seeds, doesn't mean they are not in there, but ya)

Does anyone happen to have any idea what may be going on with my friends plant mentioned above?
