hey thanks guys they are pretty big and they got some huge leaves on them still tall and skinny but the stems and leaves are growing bigger every day.. i also have adopted a plant from a friends back yard he threw a seed in the ground not thinking anything of it and up grew a plant... it was looking pretty bad when it got here i think it was a lil drowned but i gave her some new dirt and she seems to be doing ok hopefully shell perk up a lil here soon. i will be taking new pics sometime this weekend and post them on mon. i do have a ? though what is the normal amount of time of vegging before they will start to flower? and also whoever i was talking to about topping i think its getting close to time so when i post pics i hope ya can look at them and tell me if its time to top or close to time or what thanks for the responses guys guess im turning this noobie ? thread into a journal lol. Hey everyone! me again -_- dont all look so sad! lol well i got a few more cfls over the weekend. the ladies seem to be doing good. getting big almost out of control lol. the fan leaves on these ladies are huge i had a little yellowing on the leaves but pretty sure it was to hot so added another fan, raised the lights.. and added some nutes and they seem to be going great now. Heres some pics tell me what you guys think! and the 1st pic is the one i adopted from a friend was dead when i got it lol. and u may be able to tell but i got 3 big ones and 3 smaller ones. but pretty damn close in size. I also have a couple pics of their parts dont know if its too early or what but if someone can tell let me know! ENJOY

I wanted to send a pic along with this text in a direct message to you but it won't let me attach pics there, so I'll do it here. See pic below. It shows the cut just 3 days after so you can see the emerging branches of the new growth and how close to the fan leaf it was.

I'll be happy to walk you through it. Yes, a node is where each set of leaves comes out. When you cut off the top, you want to have as sharp a knife as possible so you don't have to force the cut (she'll cut very easily). Get close (but not too close) to the new emerging growth just above the fan leaf of the 4th or 5th node. As I said, use a VERY sharp knife to cut the "main stalk" above the fan leaves. It should cut like butter if the knife (yes, some people use scissors) is sharp enough so DO NOT FORCE THE KNIFE. Let me know if you need further input . Good luck.

hey thanks jarhead! i actually read a really good faq and tried fiming and topping on 2 of my plants right before u posted :X so i hope i did it right. however i did fuck up lol... on the one i topped i accidentally cut off the fan leaf too :X how stupid i was trying to be SOO carefull but didnt realize the scissors were that long. IS THIS GOING TO HURT MY PLANT oh no i hope not. anyways i did fim the other plant read some stuff about it and figured id give it a try on one of my taller plants. i hope fiming is not bad and i hope i did it correctlly lol i guess we will only see in a few days keep your fingers crossed for me guys im nervous lol. thanks for the responses and keep em comming i look forward to you guys's input. Ill take new pics when my 2 poor "girls" recover lol. if they seem ok i may do the others, we will see

huh, i topped mine like crazy and bent them and now I have a female producing about 12 colas. i'm a little late in this discussion but your first pictures, it looks like the girls are stretching. get the light closer to them. if you're outside, well, i guess let 'em stretch.

Looking good for a noob chick. They do look a bit strecthed but its no big deal. Get the lights as close as you can without burning them. Do you have a temp gauge? Im curious what your temp range is down there.

Hey guys! im a video game addict been awhile since i been called a noobie chick lol. Yes i do have a temp gauge i have 1 hot light but it grows them shits like crazy so under that light its 85 but everywhere else its about 79F constant. ive since raised the good light really high and added some more cfls so that has helped. and yes they are a lil stretched thats why i wanted to top them -_- i have a lot of room to grow though so i dunno i think theyll be aight. and holy shit live free 12!! hope that happens to me lol. thanks for the replys ill post more pics soon stay tuned

ok so checked on my girlies (fingers crossed) today seem the same leaves are growing a lil but the 2 i toped/fimed yesterday have not changed at all :/ hoping to see 2 things growing out the top soon lol. i was also curious how long i should veg for? or from seedling when should i start to flower i heard 4 weeks and 8 weeks. my plants are just past 4 weeks now and i think its too early ill post more pics soon but from my last ones how much longer would you recommend? wanna make sure i do this right :0 hit me back peeps <3

I waited 4 weeks from emerging sprouts to top. I let them grow for 2 weeks after topping. The new growth was doing well and grew 3-4 (depending on the plant) new nodes on the emerging branches. Then I went to 12/12 to flower. Remember, girldatgrows, this is realistically nothing more than growing weeds (overly simplistic I know). Some have said that isn't the case because we are attempting to grow "quality" weed here and they aren't "just weeds" . What ever they want to believe is fine with me. But overall it is that simple. You can make it as hard as you want it to be, but in a nut shell, cannabis is a weed. Yes, you can improve the overall quality and yield by being annal about every aspect if you have the gumption, time and resources to do so. Have you ever smoked some weed freshly picked & dried off a field that no one took care of...not bad stuff. Anyway, take that little politically motivated retort at face value . thanks man nice motivational speech lol. Yes im trying not to mess with them to much especially b4 i get my info on here. just want to make sure im doin this right as far as topping/when to flower technical stuff like that lol. Im trying to mostly use my instincts i got a pretty good feel for it just want to grow some stuff lol sick of paying for shit that i know i can grow lol. love the replys though found some new friends on here and hope to find some more. Like seeing/find ppl that i can share this experience with w/o being criticized or having to worry about stuff. i try to share it with my husband but he doesnt really care about the process just the end product lol. so thanks for being here! and i look forward to your posts

I say veg em for 6 weeks, or 8 if you have the patience. For me, it kinda depends on how big they are growing. Most strains will double to tripple in size during flowering. I was gonna veg mine 8 weeks but they are already around 15 inches tall so Im gonna go 12/12 at 6 weeks instead. At least thats my excuse, im getting impatient.

Jarhead made some good points. Keep it simple, because it is. And this is supposed to be fun, so enjoy it. The real fun starts when you go 12/12 and get to watch buds grow for 2 months. Very exciting stuff, too bad your husband doesnt care as much as you do. My girl doesnt care either, she just want to smoke. I enjoy the whole growing process, from seed/clone to smoke. Thats why I love this site, kind people to share the experience with.

well the plants are looking aight seem to have slown down on the growing at least for now lol. Ive decided b/c of their height to start flower next weekend week 6. i was wondering about the little bud sites they dont seem to be very big yet.. is it ok to flower still? and will they grow more ( i assume) when flowering. well ill take more pics either today or tom. and let you guys see whats going down they seem to be good and cant wait to flower! cheers for now tata

You'll have no problem with the "small bud sites". The tops will take care of themselves regardless of the size. The first and only reason these plants grow is to do nothing more than reproduce. So, all of their effort will go to making and preserving the flowers because without flowers, they cannot reproduce. That's the overly simplistic answer, but factual. And yes, it'll be fun for you to watch your little girls "develop" into young ladies (unfortunately, you'll probably end up with a young buck or two or three or..... ). Just do what you're doing (have fun) and they'll bring much delight watching and hopefully much "high" too. You go girl.....datgrows.

defenatly get that hps i used a 250w hps from day one on my cutting and it loved it but i kept it at about 4-5ft away and after 2 wekks i moved the light down im now only in the 5th week veg so take a look at my pics

hey there maclaws yeah i really wanted to get an hps but i think $ might be an issue right now so i might just do all cfl for this grow since im almost half way threw but maybe on the next one yours looks so much nicer than mine at 5 weeks! way more leaves :/ your gonna have some nice bud off that gj and gl. well now im jealous.. an want my skinny babes to get bushy lol well ill take what i get lol my first time thought theyd all be dead after week 1 so guess im doin aight lol.
