My first grow box. Need Criticism.

okay so this is a rough draft. i'm going to grow an indica strain i believe(if anyone knows a safe and reliable site for seeds that could help) im going to go with fluros i believe, at least until they get bigger and i purchase a bigger lighting system, im wondering how many cfls on the sides will i need, and how many fluros at the top, and what wattage is needed, also what should i make the box out of? wood, plastic, etc... any opinions at all are welcome.

I like the trouble you have gone to too draw this. however 4ft tall for a box is no way enough, maybe for vegging but not for the whole cycle of the plant.also with the fans you need the intake at the bottom and exhaust at the top. with regards to seed companys there are lots to choose from, if you try Seed-bay there are different companys on there,eg nirvana and paradise,bushdoctor, mamy many more. paradise are good i hear. read the grow faq for some help with seting up a grow room.

how about 5 feet? the indica strains only grow to around 4 feet i hear. they're just fat and bushy.

Hey Shindop, The problem I had with a grow box was Temp. control. I would suggest that you take ventilation seriously and if you are going to grow under flouro's during flower then good luck, I have not done well with that yet! I would suggest that you up your power to a HPS during the flowering phase due to the plant being much larger...By then it will be winter, and temps will be easier to keep cool..GL, I hope this helps

i was thinking of getting an hps, but everyone says leo's all over the internet so i have to get the cash first and go to a shop. what wattage should i use?

If you are going to grow 8 plants, in a 4x5 area then you are going to have to use a 400 hps, if you go digital on th ballast then you will get a few extra lumen's. You are going to have to really control there hight. with a 400w, there will not be huge canopy penetration. So I would trim alot at the beginning of there 12 12 cycle, and look into the scrog methods..Check out the FAQ that is on this site, and try to replicate some of the pre-made Box's that are out there. I would seriously consider a hut over a box..Gl Shindop

Thats exactly what I told him in his last post. and im thinking you need to go closer to 5ft tall.

so does anyone have a guide on how to make a grow tent/hut lol.
any information at all is helpful.

Do you have a local shop? If you do, go take a look at a hut, and try to copy the design, or at least get a good idea of what is necessary. GL

Shindop. Run a search for "portable grow room". Check out the tread there. I agree with everyone else that 5ft would be better but to say it cant be done with 4ft of space is not true. It all depends on your gow methods.

if you short with space go with a lowryder strain they dont even crack 2ft... im looking into geting some lowryder seeds at the moment... ill let ya know what i find out...

couldn't i make a tent cheaper then that, i saw a post on here and a guy did one similar for only $47. especially since i dont need anything tall. anyone think it's better to just make one?

Definitely make one. all you need is pvc and the shit to cover it VERY easy.

Yeah man, like I said before, Take a good look at some designs and come up with a way to copy it..Iron on Zippers help alot! Flood and drain all the way if you can afford it..I have a 3x3 tray I will mail you!

m8 all i did was buy some 2x1 roof batton, made a small tent,put the plastic white on the outside and the mylar on the inside, put a lid on the top so i had a good fixings for my lights etc.... it was so cheap to make. probably cost me 30$ or close to that.
