How's it going RIU.

This is my very first grow and grow journal. I've been a lurker for a while and have read a lot of threads and finally putting it to use.

My set up:
Growlab 120 (3'11" x 3'11" x 6'7")
600 watt hps/mh ballast
Sunmaster 600 watt mh conversion bulb
Sunmanster 600 watt hps bulb
6" Cooltube
6" High velocity inline fan (Exhaust)
Charcoal Filter
6" inline fan (Intake)
FoxFarm Ocean Forrest
FoxFarm Light Warrior
FoxFarm Liquids (Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom)
FoxFarm Solubles (Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz, Cha Ching)
Home made CO2 (Using a guide by XxNinjaxX)

I will be following for the most part Widow Makers guide in the Newbie Section.

I bought Kandy Kush seeds from Speedy Seeds. Got them last week. Took a week and half to get to Cali.

I just started germinating the seeds Sunday night (1/31/10). I just took a single paper towel soaked it and put in three Kandy Kush seeds. I then placed it in a cup with a little water. I put this at the bottom of my tent. So it's in the dark.

2/1/10 - One of the seeds has a root showing barely. I wasn't sure if there was too much water in the towel so I squeezed some out. Then I left the cup with a little water.

2/2/10 - First seed has the root out a little more then yesterday. Second seed has a root barely showing. Third seed is still not showing any roots.

I will post pictures of my setup soon.

Quick questions. Once the seeds have good roots. I will put them in a 16oz red plastic cup with light warrior. Now, once I plant it should I use lights or do I wait until it breaks ground?

Thanks for any help and suggestions. I will post pictures soon.

Hey man I will subscribe and watch! I sure wish I would have went straight to pots and avoided the stupid dixie cups.

As soon as they are in dirt keep them humid and warm and 24 hours light. If they don't have light right out of the dirt they will stretch and be wanting to fall over, I made this mistake, keep them short with light right out the dirt.

Good luck!

It's been a couple of hours now. I've check on the temps and I'm getting 69.2F and 47% humidity. I put my hand under the light and it's pretty warm. The temp sensor is connected on the chain right above the light.

How do I raise my temps 15 degrees? I was thinking of pulling out less air by buying a speed controller and putting it to medium. Another thing could be having my scrubber connected directly to the fan and nothing connected to the cooltube? What do you guys think?

I change my setup today. Since it was so cold. I connect the filter directly to the fan and out. I did this about 5 hrs ago. Since then the temps have been increasing from 69F to about 76F now. Hopefully it will get a little hotter and I also order a speed controller. Hopefully I will be able to reach ideal temps with this combo.

With the rain my temps dropped back down to 70F. I'm still waiting on the speed controller. In the mean time, here is a picture of my setup.

I just lifted the cool tube about a foot and half. How long does it take for the seeds to break ground?

Yes the top part of the soil was dry, Down about 1in it was dry. I tried looking for a bean but couldn't find it. Should I restart with fresh seeds?

I think that I would leave them in there and just keep them wet...on the 2nd hand start a few more just in case...Just a suggestion?...That is depending on how much you have into you seeds.

I bought a pack of 6. So I guess those three are gone. I'm going to try two more seeds and leave the current ones in there for a little longer. I'm going to put the new seeds in a shot glass with bottled water. When they root. I will put them in soil but this time with the light further away and make sure it's always wet.

Are your seeds feminized or regular? Because there is 50/50 percentage of male/female if your seeds are regular.

I have feminized seeds. So my plans just changed. A friend of mine is going to stop growing so he gave me his veg plants. It's two Amsterdam plants, one Church and the last one is from a bag seed.

I'll probably start trying to grow the kandy kush seeds a month before I harvest these because of room issues. I'm also creating a cabinet to grow clones with.

Here are pictures below.
Picture 1: Amsterdam in the front and bag seed in the back. I tried topping the bag seed plant and I just stuck the cutting next to the Amsterdam plant.

Picture 2: 2nd Amsterdam

Sorry about that. This thread makes me light-headed. LOL

If you want your cutting to survive- it should be placed in a humid environment. Try putting it in a plastic cup that is not transparent and seal it from the top lid with a clear plastic bag. Mist it with water everyday. That shouldn't cost you a penny.

Good luck with your plants.

Thanks I will try that. I just wanted to top the plant and heard you can clone the part you cut off. So I was just testing to see if it would clone if I just stuck it in the ground without rooting gel or anything. But, I will take your advise when I really do start my cloning.

Thanks for the help RIU

i can't even tell you how many times i did that my first couple rounds...i like to use small humidity domes until they sprout...this helps the soil from not drying out so quick...even the ones for the Aero garden are nice...small clear plastic cups work great too if you can find them at a local store.

also i have 2 kandy kushs going so i am excited to see this grow as well...i will be watching buddy!

oh i see you are saving those..well i guess i will report back when im done...one is at 1 week and the other is soaking in water...I soak for 12-24 hours in a warm area then just throw them right into soil 1 1/2cm down..the clear cup or dome helps keep humidity and soil a little moist..good luck with the plants you were handed down...the last one looks ok.
