Dear DIY Vets,

Please run a rough scan of my parts list and let me know if you see any red flags, pretty please....

First time build: If someone could take a look and see if I am missing any parts for this build, please let me know. Thanks so much.

(10) Cree CXB 3590s CD bin 36v

Angled aluminum for mounting

(10) Ideal COB Holders

(10) Ideal Angelina Reflectors and adaptors

(2) Mean well HLG-240H-C1400B drivers

(10) pre-drilled passive heat sinks 133*H70mm (50-60w)

18ga solid wire

Rivitor

Grommets

Wire strippers

Thermal Paste

Drill, 1/8th bit

4-40 screws 1/4 in

I'm mainly concerned about the heat sinks, if those would work.... I am fed up with trying to get questions answered from good-intentioned LED companies and Im just going to say *it and build my own. Arrrgh.

might want a resistor and a pot to dim lights since your getting the b version driver some wire nuts wago connectors or something. a plug end for driver and im not sure but I think the heat sinks have the holes drilled and taped in metric not the 4-40 screws

Thanks for the help. I excluded wagos, solid 18ga wire, and resistor from list as I have those items in Stock. I plan on getting a rivitor for my angled aluminum and cutting it with dremel. And I need to buy a new drill. I've ordered the cxp420 led from CLP this morning so I can save $$ to buy bulk cxb3590s from alibaba. I plan on just doing one huge project to replace 3k and start to grow more efficiently. Any and all advice/suggestions are appreciated.

Two options for potentiometer. 100k with a 4.7k on the negative side two times or else one 50k potentiometer with a 4.7k resistor on each negative side to control both at once.

Hi, I'm about to put together a cbx3590 light. I'll be using a hlg185h-c700b driver. I forgot about the dimmer. you also mentioned a pot. I think that I am missing something. where would I get those part. I'm still researching but if i get an answer sooner that would be great.

Pot - potentiometer... ebay, Amazon, etc. Some of these guys in here can answer your questions better. I am beginner too. Check out some of the threads on here, parts list, and tailor it to your cob build. Good luck!

@VegasWinner if he had 3 drivers.. can you connect 3 - 4.7k resistors to that 1 potentiometer or is there a limit to how many on 1 pot?? also what is the purpose of that 4.7k resistor.. what would happen using the pot without it??

there is a video growmau5 did using just resistors to make dimming with a rotary switch. The single resistor is used to create a ground difference. it is a common choice for most led's including single diode leds. It is used to protect the circuit. If you connect resistors in series they work additive with each other. Only one is needed for the circuit. Check out growmau5 video on dimming it will answer

In stead of riveting them together you can always use smaller self tapping screws, that's how I built mine, worked great and cheaper.

I received my CXP 420 cob led from PLC and put it into action. It. Is. Freaking. Amazing. Wow. I'm torn now. I really want to diy my 3 grow spaces which would take about 10 bars total of 5 cobs each- cxb 3590s. Nothing fancy, based off of growmau5 light config. But what is more cost effective? Torn and tormented.

holy hell, does that light really weight 30 pounds? I cant imagine my 4x4 tent framed pole roof supports, supporting that.
