My First Attempt - CFL grow

For some reason i had the instant desire to pop a seed in the ground. So when i found a bag seed i tried to germinate it and long story short im gonna make a real attempt at it. Got a couple more bag seeds from a buddy and got 3 to germinate I found this site about a week ago and started reading everything i could get my hands on. So i though i would share what i got going on.

I have one seedling about 5 days old and 3 germinated seeds in soil. I constructed a little grow box in my closet and rigged up a lamp for lighting. Box is 2'DX3'W3.5'H. Right now i have 5 26w 6000k bulbs going. Will mostly like throw in some y's and possibly higher watts but i have to order those. I want to finish it out in mylar but couldnt find any locally.

I really need to get some intake/exhaust and a fan going but i think i'll have to order some and get them wired in. Right now im leaving the front open when lights are on for heat.

Right now i have them in MG soil but i want to get a decent mix. Im looking for a good mix that i can pick up from lowes or walmart if anyone has one. Planning on order some nutes for veg and bloom, if anyone has some reasonable priced and easy to use suggestions.

Well thats all i cant think of right now, Im doing this on a budget and if i can grow some bud ill get a better setup. Any advice and tips are more than welcome.

i'm using BioBizz range atm

BioBizz Bio-Grow
BioBizz Bio-Bloom
and also BioBizz TopMax

really affordable and everything your bud needs

also using BioBizz Light-Mix Soil - use the light soil mix as the ALL MIX is quite harsh on seedlings

hope this helps

peace :leaf:

Thank you so much for posting this lol, now I've been struggling with a safer (the safety of my plants lol) way of hanging lights and being able to fit more in a smaller area and this sir is it. The only thing I would maybe recommend later on is something more reflective around the outside of your set up so not as much light is escaping :)

ive grown a few under cfl but for sokme reason the stem is always week after the first month and i have to end up cutting a strawTravis pond 278.jpgTravis pond 277.jpg short of an inch and putting aslit in it to support the plant if you can afford to change the lighting i would suggest it heres a pic of one of mine

it looks like you might be stretching the plant - need to get the CFL closer to the top - should be about 2 inches

Thanks for all the encouragement. I check them this morning and 1 seed that i was beginning to suspect wasnt germinated decided to pop above ground. Now i have 2 germinated and 3 seedlings. I think ill be heart broken if my first seedling turns to be male, i have such high hopes for her. At least with these numbers i should be able to turn out a couple females.

Ya i want to get some mylar to finish the box but cant find any locally. but will get some ordered.

Thanks for any help!

Question about 2700 for veg. I know ur supposed to use 6500k for veggin, im running 5 right now. But every now and then i see people suggesting to have something like a 3:1 of 6500:2700 during veg, and sometimes a couple 6500ks for flowering. Is there any worth in doing this? Seems to me that it would be a waste of a socket that could be using the right lighting. If anyone has any experience with mixing cfl types i would appreciate your input.

Also after i got 5 lights running on thursday all four seeds sprouted and the week old seedling had some great growth over the weekend

you should really try to hang them bulbs horizontaly bro
as for airflow, just get a tablefan man. works like a charm.
other than that it looks like you got your shit together :P
grow rooms tend too improve as you go along too, sao i think you will be happy with the endresults :p i know i was

Thanks for droppin by and helping out guys. i got a pc fan put in, i have two but dont have a power cord for it yet. i'll try to get a couple 2700s in there after the weekend. and post some new pics on sunday, they have been growing nicely so far!

How many actual wattage do you think i will need to finish these out, with a reasonable harvest? They are bag seeds so 5 plants during veg and (fingers crossed) 2 or maybe even 3 female for flowering.

Nice looking plant zubey, how many bulbs/watts did you have running on that plant?

Is the advantage of that just getting more lumens to the plants or what? I had planned on trying to surround the plants as they get taller. But this should be good for awhile, not?

Here is a pic of the oldlest plant at 10 days, (taken wednesday). And one of how my grow box looks now with my 5 plants.

"Nice looking plant zubey, how many bulbs/watts did you have running on that plant? "

for veg I had 2 on the sides and 4 on top.. some were 23w others where higher.. don't rmemeber but they all were 6500k

for flower i switched all bulbs to 23w 2700 and then i bought 2 more 42w 2700k. so i have 6 on top.. 2 on the sides.. plus I have a red LED grow board that I alternate from top to the bottom to hit the sides.

also your lights are at the right distance.. don't go anyhigher then that from the tops
