**My first 1200w setup in a secret jardin**

Whats up herbal ninjas! Im new to RIU and this is my first thread, I would really appreciate any advice/opinions on a new indoor setup im designing. Long Time outdoor/ Semi-Beginner Indoor (4 or 5 harvest behind me)...and my local shop had a Darkroom setup for display....needless to say I was hooked! Im sold on the 4'11" x 4'11" x 6'7" tent as my limits are 6 plants, I figured I could get a pretty decent yield with that size space.

Here's what I figured as my setup so far: (all opinions and advice are greatly appreciated...just dont try to sell me on hydro...I got soil in my viens =)

1200w growzilla reflector
600w lumatek digital dual ballast
600w eye hortilux hps
600w conversion bulb, (i will switch to dual eye hortilux hps for 12/12)
2 clip on fans for circulation
co2 tank with regulator

Not sure how hot the dual bulb action of the growzilla hood gets or if it's overkill for the tent size...but 600 isn't enough, and I'd rather stay away from 1000wers...besides I think it would kick some serious nug ass:!:

This is where I am stuck...:wall: :wall: :wall:

I know I need an exhaust hooked to a scrubber sending out nice odorless air for my neighbors to enjoy=) Just dont know what size/CFM

I also know that I want to cool the hood withouside air, through ductwork, through lights, out through ductwork to the outside.

What I don't know is what size/CFM fan would be best for the Growzilla, and if i should have a "y" junction connected to my scrubber/room exhaust so as to have 1 output from the tent, or if they each just should have their own exhaust port.

Now that I've covered exhaust & lighting what about intake?

I've heard 6 of 1 and half dozen of the other, as to whether or not passive or active...

if my exhaust is strong enough...wouldn't it pull in air from the outside? is it really necessary for an intake fan as long as my room temps were nominal?

Also, what about the co2? wouldn't the co2 im dumping from my tank just get sucked out with the exhaust?

I could really use any feedback or any experience with this setup, so thank you in advance. bongsmilie

As far as the Co2 goes, you should just have a timer rigged up so your exhaust and active intake(if so equipped) shut off while your Co2 is running. Just run it in 15 min bursts over the course of an hour. That way your plants are getting all that co2 all to themselves. Just watch you temp and adjust fan accordingly.

you want separate systems 1 for your light which is plugged into the lights timer or atleast timed the same so its on with your lights. and doesnt interfere with the tents atmosphere ... you dont wanna suck out your precious CO2.
and a second for the actual room ventilation.
the room ventilation will be set on a thermostatic switch which will only come on when the room reaches 96F and should also turn off the CO2 so that you do not dump CO2 into the room while its venting. also you should note it is better to use a CO2 controller that shuts off at night as there is no reason to run CO2 while your lights are off.
ideally your temps should be around 85 - 95 degrees whicth CO2

Gotcha..makes total sense!

So no co2 @ night, but i want 24 hr room exhaust? (except when my tank opens up) now if my light exhaust is sealed, i wont need that turned off during bursts right? And as far as the time of co2...only 15 minutes of fan off/co2 on... every hour and thats enough for the ladies? i thought it was a constant leak from the tank...

its best to use a CO2 controller that teststhe air and goes by a set PPM "parts per million" and runs only when it needs and for as long as it needs but they are expensive. you can use timed but its not a perfect science that way.
as for your lighting ventilation. it runs as long as the lights run and does not burst.
the room exhaust doesnt run 24/7 it only runs when the room gets to hot then shuts off so it comes on at 96 and cools the room to say 85 and shuts down. during that vent. you dont run CO2 as its a waste

I thought 75-85 degrees was optimal...is it different when co2 is present?

Anyone have any experience with Growzilla, or at least 2x 600w in an area that size?

Didn't know what kind of temps to expect (after it's cooled of course)

Does the co2 hook to the thermostat control also? I mean how does the regulator/controller know if my exhaust is on?

Thanks for the advice bro..I really appreciate it!

I saw in see more buds a guy hook one up to the intake and the outtake. I think he had them on two 1000w on light movers.

Not if your intake is hooked up to the vent.

Thanks for all the responses everyone....all the hydro shops try to sell intead of inform...this all makes a lot more sense!

What about fan sizes/cfm?

Do i need an intake & exhaust for lights or will one exhaust pull hard enough to cool both lights?

Room exhaust size?

Anybody out there have a similar setup they could share info...

Keep feeding me knowledge and i will gladly share mine...

you guys kick ass!!!
