My Curing Bud Has Mold!

i have been curing this bud for about a week, i checked it about a week ago i saw there was mildew forming on it so i cut it off and put the bud in paper bags and now there is even more mold!!!! WTF should i do i lost about 1/2 oz already and now my whole oz has the shit everywhere!!!! what can i do?? +REP

sounds like you left the jar sealed for too long and moisture built up, either that or mold was already growing when you put it into jars. All I can tell you is to cut out all the mold completely and dry the salvagable buds more to prevent more mold.

i think im gunna have to throw it away, it smells rank and theres white fuzz on about 50% of each bud. FUCK.

yeah i feel your pain too bro, I planted late this year outdoors which caused my sativa strains to go pretty far into october when I usually harvest end of september, and I lost a considerable amount to mold when the rains came.

Did u hang them to dry first? Did you open your jars everyday?

yea i had some problems with mold while growin outdoors but i left my buds sealed too long and there was water in the jar when i opened it, how fucked. Cant believe i lost more than an oz to mold WTF. and im almost smoked all the rest of my harvest!! fml.

yeah im having alil issue with mold...i trimmed and let my bud dry till buds got dry touch and cut buds and put into jars...opened every day, but today noticed two of my big buds had alil white fuzzy mold on the inside so i tried to trim out those area and let all my buds sit out on a magazine...some of the buds looked like mold was starting to stat but its hard to tell cuz buds to trich covered they look whitish already

is letin them sit out till real dry and restart cure good idea?

I would be super cautious. Coming into contact with mold is bad enough, but ingesting it thinking it could be safe to get high... you don't want that on a vulnerable spot in your body.

Doesn't sound like you let it dry enough. Hand dry until they are crispy on the outside, then put them in sealed jars. Open jars a couple of times a day for about 10-15 mins. Repeat until they aren't moist. At this point the curing process has begun. I kept mine in jars for 2 months and they were very very tasty.

That sucks, but it happens. When you do have mold in your bud, cut it out hang it with good separation in between buds with a fan on it for like 2-3 weeks. Also, seperate the good bud from the stuff that has, or has had rot even while hanging. I know it's a long time but if you try and jar that up when even a little damp and even if you do open everyday, those mold spores will grow and destroy your bud. That's why I hang my shit til the twig snaps and add a leaf to the jar when and if they are too dry. I never jar wet.

Chop it up into pieces and salvage anything that isn't effected.
I had a spot of mold on my bud during the first week of drying. I immediately microwaved the shit using the "quick dry method" described in other posts. It dried the bud and killed the mold. Then I ground the remaining good pieces up and sealed it in jars. The smoke was still good. Don't smoke anything moldy you will have a total stomach ache and cold sweats and anxiety. Mold is a bad drug.

It's real common to get mold.

Now I'm careful to not over water my plants during the second half of the bloom season (I let them dry well between watering) and I inspect on a regular basis for any signs of mold. The first place you might see it is in your top cola and it starts in the center and works it's way outward so you have to probe the cola to check for mold.

Dood, fuck mold. Nothin sadder than loosing 4 months of a grow to mold.

You gotta burp them every day for like 20 minutes. Thats how long I do mine for. I really dont have many people to sell to now and I do not smoke at the moment so the longer you cure it for, and shorter burps, the more chronic it will be. Try salvaging the moldy stuff, put it in the freezer, which should kill all the mold, and hash it or something.
