My carbon filter has been sitting there for 6 months...

Just wondering if carbon filters lose their effectiveness if they are just idle, not being used. I bought one of a guy who only used it for 1 flowering period so it is still fairly new when it comes to usage. Its not a cheap piece of shit either.

Basically my question is if I have had it sitting in the cupboard wrapped in a garbage bag for 6 months will it still lose its effectiveness even though it is not being used? It has not left that same garbage bag for 6 months...

I wondered this the other day too, because i was thinking of ordering a carbon filter for backup, and eventually my flower tent . But in the meantime using a diy scrubber rig.

Charcoal once exposed to air loses it effectiveness after 1 year. You should change your filters then for maximum odor control.

Yeh I wouldn't have any trouble getting it open and resealing it. Thats a great idea mate. Where do I find this charcoal? I seen some in a large pet store I visited once...Would that be the right stuff?
