If you keep the schedule, the fluorescent will keep the plants alive and still synced to flower until the new bulb arrives. Suggestion: order two. cn

definetly buy 2 bulbs next time but it shouldn't hurt them too bad just be like having a few cloudy days outside.

If it's an HPS ballast, you cannot run an ordinary MH in it. You didn't say "conversion bulb" so I'm wondering if maybe you were running a bad bulb/ballast match. cn

Not true to my knowledge, I've had a HPS and MH run on the same HPS Ballast. Depends on the ballast. No harm in trying..

"I made it work" isn't the same as "it is made to work that way". MH and HPS ballasts have different ignition circuitry, and I'd wager a mismatch is not good for the bulb or the ballast. Are you sure you didn't chance early burnout? cn

I'm wondering with the ballast set to 400watt can i safely use a 400watt hps bulb for 3 days....

what bulbs did u order? i am currently using a dimmable 1000 ballast, and have it on plus setting, for 1100 watts, and using a eye hortilux bulb. i feel the sunmaster is a superior bulb. if not the best out there. it has an unusually orange color. reminds me of fall. an ushio bulb will enhance stretch.

well i will be going for a lightspeed bulb due to local shop inventory, he also has hortilux eye but wants 190 per bulb
the lightspeed is supposed to be fairly good at 100 a bulb.

blindbaby, do u use the superlumens throughout all 12/12?

Unless it's a horse with 40-50,000 more lumens
I can find bulbs online for $17 that have 90,000 lumens and ones that cost $100 that are 95,000 lumens. For the price difference alone on your electric bill in running extra bulbs, you could have twice as many lights and lumens coming down on your plants when all is said and done.

same bulb i just ran only i had the 600, 600w bulbs tend to be more xpensive than a 1000w for some reason, but ya, the prices seem to work out for most, gotta luv da shop mark up, i would get a digilux again but by the time i pay for bulb and shipping then border fees, its jsut easier to go to shop for this

well, when i upgraded from my 600, to 1000, i wasent sure what to do. still arent, as far as running it at 1100, vs 1000. its just a ten percent boost. its viably brighter. for the most part, i am running plus lumn setting 12/12. mine is actually 1145 on. 1215 off. im taking a break from trimming all this outdoor jack H. i still about 2/3 the way done on the small plant. still have the big one. anyway, back to the bulbs. i really liked the color of the 600 sunmaster. when i bought my new ballast, they had the eye for 95. they have one thats new, and way more expensive. but when this bulbs time is up, im going to a 1000 sunmaster, i really like the way the plants react to them. gives the room a michal meyers halloween orange glow, to. lol. never seen a bulb this orange. they go for 99. commonly. ive heard the cheap bulbs are ok. FOR ONE GROW. after that, they can rapidly, and usually do, lose their light output quality. i replaced the t-5 4' TUBES (8) a couple months ago. they were over two years old, and black around the ends. i noticed an IMMEDIATE inprovement in my young 'uns with the new tubes! i love this light. i can turn on 4 at a time. and for shits and giggles, 2 of the 8 new bulbs, i made the orange spectrum. the other 6 are 6500k. i think the sunmaster, is a low 2700k,while many others are like 3000-3100. the shame, is my yield has not gimproved over the 600 watt. ODD! in march, my carbon filter will be 3 years old come march. still going strong.
