Wouldn't be there if it wasn't for help here from all of you guys!! The amount of support and help I have received in RIU has been incredible... maybe I need to move to Colorado, Oregon, or Washington...been toying with the idea...but to be around like minded individuals, growing in a place where I'm not an outlaw or afraid of being arrested... sigh... could go on about this for days....
Been thinking about that for some time now. :D that really would be something.

Ballast off carpet :( fire hazard

Drill it to the wall or put it on something.

They get hot enough to melt stuff.

Hopefully that wasnt a permanent place for it lol.

Try to ph water to 6.8 with ffof , the soil runs slightly acidic. Very little feeding until maybe week 4 or 5.

You could add michorizae(every few weeks) and some pro silicate during veg(helps stems alot and temperature Adaptation)

Grab nitrozime for foliar spray. Growth horomone is wonderful for veg.

What nutrients are you planning on running?

Good luck with your grow sir. We are here to help feel free to ask any questions.

Thank you...for 500$ I would say its a steal :)
looking really good, i have seen guys pull 1 pound from 3 x 3,, they are masters at it, but its something good to know , that you now have room and the right parts to have big yeilds, I am happy for you
Edit
if your already sure heat is an issue , keep the balast outside, I agree screw it to something fire safe, I like your carbon filter on the outside, that cuts down on noise as the filter now also acts as a muffler,, very nice

Yeah that was my initial "Im stoked this is happening, and it's finally set up" post...lol

I actually have it on top of a dehumidifier... I was having heat issues at first (temp was rapidly climbing to 86-88 with the ballast at 50%) until i figured out what to do until i make the heat tube... The dehumidifier puts out alot of cool air exhaust...so...since I have the tent in a corner, I put the dehumidifier there - then made a little ducting to direct the exhaust to the air intakes of the tent...temp is holding at 80! It will work for now.

Water is at 6.8 and I have the general hydroponics nutes...also have Humboldt's "Oneness"...not sure if I am going to use any nutes though, because im transplanting the seedlings back into FFOF in 3 gallon smart pots when they are ready...

good look on the foliar spray...oh, i need to activate the co2 bag as well...still have alot to do, but Im just happy its going well, and I'm equipped to do it right!

If ur having temperature issues definately grab some grotek pro silicate. It will help the plants deal with the hotter environment. I can push my plants to 95 degrees with co2 during veg but i wont go any hotter. Normally i try to stay 86-90.

With those tiny solo cups try to water with a mL syringe so that you can do it slow and even. They probably only need maybe 30 ml every few days. The more saturated that soil becomes, the more you will experience lockout issues with certain nutes.

Yeah, I was having temp issues...I have a temporary fix in place until I make a heat tube this afternoon. If I have any issues after that I will definitely get the silicate...how does the silicate work?

As far as watering goes, I have a spray bottle with 6.8ph water... for these first few days I spray them just enough to keep the topsoil damp. I'm on day 2 of seedling with the plants in the tent. I figure they will be due for a real watering on day 5 or so...should I be keeping an eye on my soil ph in this early stage even though I am using FFOF, and 6.8ph water??

Always ph u never wanna slow growth.

Pro silicate gets added to ur wattering schedule at about 1-2 ml per gallon

It basically helps the cell walls get thicker and more pliable .. bigger stems more flexible sturdier plant. Also scts like insulation for temperature changes.

Heat tube installed today and working great! Temp is 76-81 depending on how warm I have the house, and humidity is around 38%.

So with the solo cups I am using...The topsoil is getting a little dry because of the Metal Halide bulb... I am spraying them about twice a day - just to keep the topsoil moist... Am I okay to keep doing this?

I am running the bulb at 50% power... How long till I increase to 75% or 100%??... Also my ballast has a "super-lumens" selection past the 100% position, how cool... Flower city when i switch to HPS!!:bigjoint:

I am also wondering when i should transplant into my 3 gallon smart pot?

Thanks fellas!

I would grab a 1 gallon pot first. When you water , do it around the edges so the roots search for water. If u switch to those big pots from solo cups your roots wont expand as fast because water will be readily available.... no incentive to grow. U will also have to wait forever for it to dry out which reduces oxygen to your root system.

You definately need to start misting in there 2-3 times a day. Your veg growth will be much faster if you get ur humidity to about 60% in veg

You could also try sticking a tray of water in there as well. The water evaporating will create some humidity. Make sure its not too much or the water will never evaporate. Maybe 1/4 inch of a dish or something

Day 3 of seedling/veg. Things are going great. Heat tube isn't as big as I'd like, but it's working well. Humidity is up, temp is good.

I hung the Co2 bag up today...hopeful about how things are going.

When should I switch the ballast to 100% power??
