My 1st indoor CFL grow; Handmade Fixtures

This is my first indoor soil grow with CFL lights. I have 3 plants in veg one planted last night after germination, and one germinating, so plan to have 5 plants total. Originally only wanted the three but now odds are even better and the more the time passes and the more information obtained from the interwebs and friends the better the process and quality becomes. my biggest is 12 days old and the other 2 are 10.. i transplanted Blue Dream last night, its an idica, growing rediculously strong, iva had em onm a 24 hour push for these 2 weeks and plan to continue for one more week then gonna start the 18/6. started Big Bloom and Grow big on the big ones at half strenth and half volume for starters as i had previously existing burns on BD's leaves and i figured it might be to over fertilization so ive flushed the soil and upon transplant have added the first Fox farm nutrients. It is looking amazing and super perky ! looking forward to seeing its growth to continue to be super luscious !!! now to the pics.. every thing was built with foil, fixtures , and poster board.. each fixture cost like 120.. took a little time and some ninjanuity but i gotst it done. and in no time at all. any and all information criticism and what have you are welcome adn needed and appreciated, knowledge me i am an open book !! now heres some pics !!

How many watts do you have in total? I'd assume it's not really only 23w with 3 plants? With CFLs you want about 75w-100w per plant for optimum growth.

Ah, okay. They look good! The only thing I have to add is, I like to keep all my plant at equal height. So, what I'll do is just put a few DVD cases under the shorter plants to keep them at the same height. Not necessary, but helpful in keeping them all relatively the same size.

I'll take a real time pic .. that was first completion.. I'm gonna transfer my other two tonight and make them all equal height as well.. guess I'll justn post that.. The BD is huge.. u can see a diff from before transplant to today
. Day to day is hug diff.. A centimeter + a day .. it's good shit !!

Take this time to invest in a HID setup for flower... It's ok, that you will not flower with CFL's, if you had in an alternate reality, your alternate self would thank me. :)

I still use cfl shit i bought for my first run through for my veg area, its not a waste of money initially. But I am dead serious about flowering with nothing less than a 400 watt hps.

easy way you can seal off that larger area is with 1x1's, silicone, a caulk gun, and trash bags, just going to throw that out there. lol

How much are the HID's ? I was gonna use the 2700 k 4650 lumen CFL for flowering.. only have 4 as of right now... dp they sell just the bulbs ? Or does it need more power?. And y would i need to seal the 1x1? ------ also.. i am moving and Will have another room dedicated to the grow.. thinkin about a grow tent or sumthn wut do yall think?

I just transplanted Juliet and devils lettuce, they are gonna be super happy just put in their first.round of.nutrients n when the light timer gets here I'ma change em to 18/6 light cycle.. I'm having an issue with temp.control n association with the height of the lights.. how close do they NEED to be to the plants?? Cuz temp regulation is gonna be tough to keep below 82 with the lights much closer20140312_010522.jpg

So im wondering if i could get some input, do i or should i trim off an crispy dying-ish or chemical burnt leaves?? BD is only 13 days old and im just wondering if i should just leave it.. ive flushed the soil and started their first round of Nutes. BD is suuper perky and been growin like a champ since the beginning. DL is a littl e behind and im sure its gonna be super purple, it got jostled around during its first watering after planting, and grew up a little closer to the edge of the solo cup instead of being centered. But its doing good. Juliet is growing super strong .. still at about a centimeter plus a day in growth and expansion. last night i transplanted and today it already touching the sides of the new pot, theyre all on 24 on and they r super producing. Planning on goin to 18/6 when my light timer gets here tomorrow, or might finish out the whole 3rd week with 24 hour push.. what do yall think?? and how often should i water and nutrient, now that they r drinking alot more?? ima put pics up using my phone n a sec....

Looks like 400 watt hps light sytems range from $115 - 160+.. comes with amp and a couple lights rope hangers and the hood... not too expensive.. id prolly buy the light bulb fixture and amp, and build another hood.. i been ninja-ing the shit outta these grow light fixtures. but i gotta give my boy Unseenblunt MC credit for giving me the knowledge on growing and letting me know what to do. but if u got the money and dont wanna build then buy it, but ima let mine veg for 1.5-2 months the increase yield, then ill see hwats up with the HPS system, gonn ahave a whole room devoted to the grow which is pretty magic, so now its just research, application , and time...

So here are pics of devils lettuce and juliet.. see the darker purp on DL's lower leaves ?!?! Should be sexy when it gets bigger.. and I'm thinkin juliet is a def sativa.. and I'm tho kin it came from OG kush seeds I found.. here are sum pics...Blue dream: day 13 , Devils Lettuce: day 11 , Juliet: day 11

everything is going good i have chopped off the 5th node on my 3 original ladies and have started an 18/6 Cycle to see if growth will stunt or not .. hopefully the rest will help these burn marks on the leaves to go away .. we shall see. In order from left to right
Jul and DL are 16 days and BD is 18 ..

For serious bro it's pretty hardcore !!! The other two have done their stunt after the 5th node chop. . Still growing strong tho.. BD has made.it past the growth stunt after the chop and has 4 new leaves about an inch long comin out now.. im.concerned that DL the smaller purple one has root bound from growing so.close to the cup.. it's growing slow and still appears to wanna seem over watered.. and DL'S soil stays moist longer.. As if it's not.drinking as much.. has same light love n care just slow n small.. leaves all hunched over like it's over hydrated still.. gonna let the dirt get bine dry before re watering.. but JUL, the lime green one is drinkin like a champ, needs nutes today.. u think I'm tripping about DL ? I have no choice but to.sit back and observe.. all should end well tho I hope.. wutcha think?

def let them dry out before watering. i would doubt any of them are root bound at this point but if u are worried about it you can transplant into bigger pots in a week or two. only if it seems to be the problem tho.
