I'm def. game for the forum and would do all I can to contribute sir! I'm so damn interested in everything that's goin on here, that it's just too easy to learn.
And reading the same ishh over and over again, just in different words, between different books, helps tremendously too!

I'm thinking I just post my current soil mix and and seek some feed back from ppl regarding their mixes, and how they're working out

Thing is....There are SOOOOO many different things you can add to the soil, that serve the same purpose but are different products.
I think it'd be in our best interest to compare and contrast our results.

Alone I def. couldn't do it....Just too many different things to try out in a soil.
For example, there are two differences my new mix compared to my last mix..Hopefully they'll be improvements, but I won't know until about May ya know? Until I get into a full out veg. And I
So having ppl give their soil mixes and results would be an AWESOME start.
What you think? Lets bounce some ideas around before we dive in! :joint: Or do we just dive in haha

I dunno S420, most people that I know are really... weird about their soil recipes. I never had to put any oyster shell in my hydro rez ;)

Veg mix-1/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano (PSG)
1/3 cup High N Bat Guano (Mexican)
1/3 cup Earth Worm Castings (EWC)
5 tsp. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract
(That makes the "dry mix". You can make all you want and save it to use later.)
Mix with water @ 1 cup of dry mix into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.
To that 5 gallons of tea add:
5 tbs. Liquid Karma
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses




Flowering nute tea mix:
2/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano
2/3 cup Earth Worm Castings
2/3 cup High P Guano (Indonesian or Jamaican)
5 tsp. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract
(That makes the "dry mix". You can make all you want and save it to use later.)
Mix with water @ 2 cups of dry mix into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.
To that 5 gallons of tea add:
5 tbs. Liquid Karma
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses

There are some bro....We just gotta get em all in one place. Google had been the SHIT for a LONNNNNNNGGGGGGG time too haha!
The ease of growing organically is it's advantage. I guess in hydro it's the fact that you can give your plants the "Lance Armstrong" treatment hahahaha :joint:
But to each his own bro! There will come a time when I learn Hydro just to know it! Hopefully I'll have mastered soil in about another decade hahahaha! Wayyyy tooo much shiiiiiii to learn :leaf:

Hydro is much easier for me. Amending water seems much easier. I'd much rather top off a reservoir than walk around hunched over watering plants, shuffling plants around, etc. Just makes my life easier.

However, I know several soil growers that could benefit from a Soil Recipe Thread. I'm in favor of it.

Teas look good for sure. I use some of the ingredients that you have listed above in my teas so I can vouch.
The soil mix looks straight too, but I know that blood and bone meal have better substitutes.
They can smell off and they cant attract animals if you use them outdoor. And burn easily with noob use haha
You also don't need to add trace elements. You get them from adding kelp meal and mineral amendments like a rock dust or an azomite.
The combination of extra kelp meal and a rock dust provides all necessary trace elements.
And technically, a soil mix isn't complete without mineral amending! It makes a HUGE difference from pics I've seen of all kinda veggies.
Provides trace elements and anchoring plants for roots and fungi.

And lastly, the compost source.....and all the beneficial microbes in the soil...they handle the PH as long as you keep em happy!

Haha like I said..To each his own! I'm sure hydro would be easier for me too had I learned it first!
But there's no walking around hunched over.
I sit on my ass on the floor and put my plants on a cart...lift up the foliage and water them every 3 days..
In between those 3 days all I do is rotate to them maybe 3-4 times a day....And wait until they need more water again haha.
IDK how it could get much easier haha

I brew teas for every 3 outta 4 waterings....mix everything up in a gallon jug and then stick my fish tank pump in it for 24 hours.
When I water I give a half gallon tea to each plant, and then give them a half gallon water like an hour like..If it's water only like today was, then it's water then water...And done for three days bro..

In two days I gotta start my tea brewing...til them I just rotate them.

And I've only checked my PH once...and I shouldn't have...My plants were just thirsty.

I guess what I'm trying to portray is that ease is the advantage of the organic garden. Unless hydro is all you know :leaf:

Perlite I guess you could do without adding, I just add it to avoid the risk..
But you NEED a rock dust. Hit Google for a while on it! :joint:

Yes I forgot to add that trace elements aren't needed but the azomite is some amazing stuff. I love it so I always add a lil in and sure there are other things that work just as well but I've tried the others and didn't have as good as looking plants.

I've got some other really simple recipe's but this is my best one. There are millions out there but I am constantly changing my recipe and I've settled on this one for awhile now. Have ran it outdoor 2 seasons with no issues.

Music to my hear hearing you say that Azomite is good stuff! It's the variable in my new mix. Last mix I use glacial rock dust instead, but read a lot ot good things about Azomite too, so thought I'd try it. And I'm just speaking from what I've read over and over again regarding the blood and bone meal, but not from experience, so you letting ppl know that its working out for you, says more than I've read ya know....
Theres a lot of "stuff" on the internet...I try my best to pick and choose :joint:

I think we need to start breaking the soil mixes and teas down to scale on a regular basis tho ya know?
Like I listed my mix for using one large bad of FFOF..Most mixes around the next require pounds or this and that...
And Most teas are listed by the 5gal recipe, but I've found success brewing by the gallon, and mixing by the bag...

Only because I'm not trying to have all the excess ish in my one bedroom apt...So I gotta be resourceful
