Hi Ladies and Gentlemen, one plant i am currently growing and experimenting with and was left behind with the training, was "unintentionally" light stressed and went to flower on 18/6 cycle. Clone, photoperiod hybrid strain, almost 5 months old, has grown till she reached 32" of distance from the 450 real watts Led (almost like a 2000 hps) which should already give around 700 ppf at that direct distance with the lowest setting.. Then i had the great idea to turn on the "full spectrum" COB blast providing
something like 1600 center PPF at least for 3-4 days of 18/6, she started growing like mad.
But food was right, temps were kept low 70s and the humidity around 55% so she did't end burnt up, just started shooting off pistils like mad.
Branches growing at a normal rate and shape, not stretching.
As soon as i realized that she was budding after just 3 days, i gave her a train and set the first scrog net, turned off the full blast on the Led and, afraid of creating an hermaphrodite, i switched to 12/12 after 36 hours dark.
Currently she is at day 10 of "official" flowering, and started her stretching phase WHILE still putting on buds, and looks like she is in the middle of week 3.
She also has developed a POLYPLOID mutant branch (double the amount of DNA in the cells) that topped himself and started growing flat and wide as two fingers, putting on a ton of bud sites from everywhere. I will soon be able to post pictures to share this beauty of "nature" with you, hopefully will become something monstrously big and beautiful.
Still can't believe this happened to my plant as it is an extremely rare spontaneous mutation(is usually possible by damaging plant tissue or seeds with acenaphthene and colchicine, really poisonous and i would not honestly try some cancer giving weed) and will produce monster flowers with double/triple/quadruple the trichomes amount and potency.
There are few techniques or products that can induce early budding to give the plants these 2 extra weeks to bulk up instead of stretching, and light stressing to me seems a bit unusual but might be worth it.. it didn't stop the stretch at the end, and if everything goes like planned and i avoid early maturation of flowers, i hope i will be able to push her to 12 or 13 weeks and get a ton of bud. I'll keep you updated about this.
Good Grow!
